1 Year and Some Later and still....

It has been a while since the failure of ffxiv 1.0, I was blessed because i had the chance to play from Alpha and on Till Release. I Awaited this game patiently and one year later I can say i enjoy the game except for the lack of content and the never ending maintenances.

1 week after the release 2.3 --- 3 maintenances already it seems they are either incompetent or dont really know how to run the game. Many games out there do not require games to be shut down for updates to happen even WOW allow you to play while the updates are running in the background why cant SE do this?

In almost a year only 3 updates to content and like 1k or more maintenances and many issues that could have been foreseen. Yes i know there are certain things no matter what you do will always show up but one year later (almost anyway) havent they figured out that a mmo without content is a failed mmo?

Actually I think there's quite a lot of content for such a young game - it's just that playing most of that content is in no way fun. Too much Hard Mode this, Extreme Mode that and not enough fun new things to explore and try.

The other issues is yes, this patch I think is an abyssmal failure. Hunts are terrible. PvP entering was broken. Housing system is ridiculous. Chocobo raising is out of reach. So many things are so broken with it and seems to be designed for only the elitist hard core that I think someone did a quick switch on us and gave us the XI development team back. Maybe Yoshi has been ill and Tanaka is filling in - I don't know. I do agree this last patch in particular is one of the worst and 99% of these issues could have been foreseen with a simple test server. Even XI has a test server now. Why doesn't XIV?

this i agree with.
having 500 different modes of primals is in no way, fun...at all.
the sameish like mechanics but beefed up, added more stomps, more ifrits or whatever...
still the same ifrit, same garuda, same titan. next is "Elite" titan or w/e. -.-

Expansion like content takes time to make. There are essentially their own game. If that's what he is after he's got about another 6 months or so to wait for it.

Yeah, you're absolutely right! Because World of Warcraft had absolutely no downtime its first year of its release.

This isn't exactly XIV's first year of release, though. We're going on probably closer to 5-6 with initial dev time included. It's definitely been long enough to figure out how to smoothly implement polished content. This whole patch was just botched beginning to end.

Yes you can play WoW while the patch is downloading. However, they usually turn the servers off for 12+ hours to add that patch to the server (before you can download it). So it's pretty much the same there. Also WoW is down almost every Tuesday. Maintenance happens on MMOs. If they didn't the servers would grind to a halt.
