    Request: OPEN WORLD PVP

    I do enjoy the new frontlines very much. It reminds me of what AV in WoW back when it was first released. I hope they continue to refine this cross server instanced content.

    As much as I love instances PVP, what I'd like to see is open world PVP. I think there's a lot of current mechanics that could benefit from this, particularly shitty gear upgrade progressions that is the ATMA fate grinds. What I envisioned is GC ownership of quadrant of a zone. Contribution to ownership is calculated based on activities done in the zone by all participants (i.e., mob kills, resource gathered, PVP kills, PVP quests, quests, FATE completion, control of towns/outposts, etc. Basically any activity. This should be weighted more for PVP than PVE.).

    Score is tallied up at the end of a set period. Once ownership is granted, higher drop rates of shit for all that won ownership of the quadrant. Zone ownership = EVEN higher drop rates of everything, particularly horrible quest items like ATMA and alexandrites and what have you.

    I'm approaching this with EVE and Planetside 2 in mind, both of which are awesome games to try out. If not, at least the mechanics that promotes player driven contents.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "PVP kills" in the zone. Are you suggesting that everyone should be forced to PVP whether they want to or not?

    All out PvP everywhere is just lame and adds nothing to the game. All of what you said equates to you should be rewarded for PvPing over people who dont. PvPing is quite boring. It always has been since the dawn of MMO's. It's always catered to hardcore gamers who spend more real life money on equipment to run the game faster over any real tactical in game skill. To me, its always added little to the experience. Even if you do factions, it always just ends up being chaos and you getting jumped by a roaming gang.

    Also, the emphasis is ALL activities, with PVP weighted more in the scoring. The purpose is to encourage people to op in on world PVP. But if you'd like, you can still stay neutral and contribute less while questing, leveling, questing, FATEs, hunting, chopping wood, mining rocks, etc.

    What are you basing any of this on? Do you generally just pull random nonsense out of your butt?

    I think being able to op in and op out instead of mandatory is required. So as to avoid these "roaming gangs" #sonofbaldo

    Ultimately, I think giving people the OPTION to create their own content is much more cost efficient and sustainable.

    Opt-in open world PVP would be a good idea. It means that people who just want to go about minding their own business don't have to worry about dying in the world.

    But as in everything in the game, SE has to write story for it all. The three factions have an alliance and the only reason we fight at Carteneau is because of the story. If there is open world PVP implemented, there is going to have to be a story and reason behind it. From looking at everything SE has done, they want lore and story behind things .

    Maybe implement a relic system like Warhammer & DAoC and give FCs the ability to claim outposts for their Grand Company. The Aligan* artifacts could be held in these outposts giving a bonus to the Grand Company whom holds them. A bonus that is only active in PvP.

    Yeah but it's still the same. We will have to wait for SE to be able to work this into the game. A new area would work best, maybe an area of Coerthas or Mor Dhona, since they are the most contested and you don't want to cause trouble in an allied states' land (gaol sentence/death penalty etc).

    Now for the set up
    • General primal outbreak
    • Syndicate gaining traction with their plans to overthrow Nanamo
    • Gridnians mishearing the Elementals and resorting to nationalist terrorism as a result
    • Some of the The Lominsans fearing an invasion or general paranoia (Pirates aren't the most idealistic bunch)
