It sounds pretty one sided for a tradeoff. Wouldn't it eventually cause people to shun players of other consoles if the development of PC only add one and plugins takes off?It is the case and always has been the case, when you talk about the game as a whole. If you just reference one item, especially in this case... Hunts boils down to sheer competition and the attitudes of the community. If, however, you're saying that it's caused by "those dirty, rotten PC cheaters"... Well, you're partially right, but the stance of 'plugins bad' simply because the PS users wouldn't have access is like saying PC users shouldn't be able to upgrade components because Mac user's can't. It's a trade-off and one that will most likely always exist.
It's never been a fair trade off, sadly. It's part of the reason so many MMOs have stayed away from the combo PC/Console endeavors. As far as shunning... Possible, but that again boils down to community. If I'm just as comfortable and efficient playing on my console without plugins as you are on PC, then what should it matter? I personally advocate plugins for UI tweaks (mostly visual) and informatics like DPS tracking, which are nice to track and plan better with but don't directly make me a better player. It still boils down to my play skill, no matter how many extra shiny tools I have at my disposal.
