Nice to know that. Though... I can still manage with two retainers, which means you still have 175+ extra baggages that might not really important.

Some other thing to consider as reminder:
- Remember basic stuff you can buy from npc at each crafter guilds? If you have FC house, buy the npc that sells those stuff too. He/she will have all the basic mats you need from every guild so that you don't have to go back to guilds anymore. Plus, teleporting to FC house are way cheaper once you installed personal aether there.
- Check popularity of items. It helps decide whether you need to keep it or sell it in mean time.
- As with previous points, try to think market as infinite external storage with fees. You put our stuff there even though you might need it. If not sold yet, good. Even if someone buys it, when you buy same stuff back, it'll be like getting your stuff back after paying a "storage" fee.
- After you got all your DoH/DoL capped, you should already realized later on that some of stuff you kept has become junks as in little value since you will be aiming to work on bigger stuff. Even of you need some low level stuff back, ie for levelling desynths, you can just farm/buy those again. And when you don't need them anymore, npc/market them again.

A this moment such problem can be solved by private FC only. 4 own retainers + 7 clones with 28 additional retainers

The new Item Search option will search your inventory and all retainers (on the same character). This function is available from the Crafting log and Market Boards. Unfortunatelly for alts you need to be looged into particular one to be able to search their retainers.

I used to hoard stuff, but no longer.

Especially if you are an omni-crafter you should be able to keep only a limited stock of items.
I suggest keeping only HQ/hard to obtain/very expensive items on your retainers, and simply buy (and/or caft) the rest when needed. And when your stats are high enough you might not even need HQ mats anyway. I myself have cleared out most of he random mats I had lying about. I always told myself I might need them one day, but after my retainer had them for months it was pretty obvious that was not the case.

TL;DR: you don't need such a huge stockpile, get rid of it.
