    Suggestion for hunts.

    ANOTHER HUNT THREAD YAY Something to add for consideration to SE/the playerbase regarding overcamped hunt mobs with little reward for parties/no solo reward. A lot of players are calling for the mobs to be popped/single party claim/different to the current system, and I'd like to put something forward. FFXI had a system called Zeni Notorious Monster (ZNM for short) which worked upon a pop basis. It worked like this.

    • Player takes a soul imprint of a certain monster, exchanges it with NPC for pop item.
    • Player pops monster, kills, receives a "Trophy" item from dead monster.
    • Player returns to NPC, exchanges Trophy item and Zeni for new monster pop item.
    • Player pops monster with new item, kills, receives new Trophy item.
    • And so on, until final reward is got from a monster that eats bricks for lunch.


    But this isn't XI, I hear you say. Well. What if XIV's system for Elite hunts went like this.

    • Player exchanges GC seals for rank B pop item (Solo) from Hunt Billmaster.
    • Player pops rank B, kills. Receives new "trophy" KI plus full reward allied marks + myth + sol.
    • Player returns to Hunt Billmaster, exchanges KI and more GC seals for rank A pop item. (Light Party.)
    • Player pops rank A, kills. Receives new KI plus full reward allied marks + myth + sol.
    • Player returns to Hunt Billmaster, exchanges KI and more GC seals for rank S pop item. (Full party.)
    • Player pops rank S, kills. Receives chance of Bloody Hunt Log drop plus full reward allied marks and bonus reward marks, myth, and sol.


    Advantages of a system like this include:

    • Not compromising Yoshida's vision of needing help from others to kill rank A onward.
    • Actually hunting for a mark, and doing legwork to find it, the pop items serving as bait.
    • The ability to form hunting parties, the same way treasure hunting parties are formed.
    • Solo players given the opportunity to still make some allied marks at a faster rate than current, and a choice to team up with others for a faster rate, not the current system of "hunts aren't for solo players."
    • Giving players something to spend their GC seals on.
    • Players having a chance to amass quite a few Bloody Hunt Logs to exchange, (especially with repeats) but the system not giving them out like candy (making raids still viable)
    • The community not at each other's throats.
    • Making radar completely useless.


    Disclaimer: This system would not be a "once per week" Thing. It would be able to be cancelled at any time, making B-rank spam for solo players viable and serious parties to be able to farm in the same manner as the Treasure Hunt.

    Destinations for pop item trade would be random and unmarked on the area, in the same manner of pops, and those not in party would not be able to target what spawns in the same way someone cannot attack another player's leve target.

    Finally, I know XI is a ship that sailed, but Zeni worked very well in it, and would work marvellously here, imo. It's only an idea, please don't get angry if it's not your thing.
