    When to complete sidequests?

Hello, this is my first post and I'm also a newbie in the game. At this time I'm a 39 level Paladin, and so far I have completed a few sidequests (the ones with (!)). The reason is that people from other forums told me that I should complete these quests when I start a new class, but not the first time. They're right?

I just completed the ones which allows you to have a chocobo, dye things, etc.

Thanks for your time, and I hope my English was correct

    Welcome!

Really, its up to you when you do side quests - yes it can be helpful to hold off doing some for other classes, but as you get a bonus to non-quest exp when you level classes lower than your highest one anyway, it becomes somewhat moot about saving quests. Also don't forget there are types of classes you can do which are actually repeatable after a fashion (levequests and the daily beastmen quests - the later are unlockable from around level 40ish). Also there are some quests that only unlock at certain points in the storyline, and are usually connected to the storyline indirectly so those are worth doing at the time they appear, as you lose that continuity leaving them for later.

But ultimately its up to you - if you wish to use all your sidequests for your first class, then do it! There are other alternatives to levelling your earlier classes to sidequests (Hunting Log, dungeons, levequests, Guildhests, beastmen quests from level 40ish, FATEs, Challenge Log), so you won't be left with no way to level if you do so.

Since you are Paladin, I would recommend saving your side quests. As a Tank (type) you can queue for dungeon in the duty finder in seconds.
Use the Duty Roulette once a day, as you will receive about 1/3 to 1/2 level bonus upon completion.
Then use the Duty Finder, selecting your highest level dungeon only, and just run that dungeon until you are strong enough for the next story line dungeon. Each run through the your highest dungeon should be good for about a 1/3 level of experience. Thus, in 4 or 6 runs, about 2 1/2 hours, you will be strong enough for the next story line dungeon.

For all those saved side quests, you should use them up on DPS type classes, as those types have very long queue times. Daily Roulette is about 8 minutes, specific dungeon, is about 30 minutes. You can do the side quests or levequests while waiting for the Duty to pop.
