I don't mind speed runs, it's just when, as people say, people force others to do it or complain to others about how they're doing it. As a healer I'm often shoved into speed runs without any sort of warning, the tank just runs off ahead and pulls a huge pack, which I don't mind, but I imagine it's daunting for new DPS who are like, 'What on earth is he doing?', then having the tank complain that the DPS can't get the huge pack down quick enough. Or rage quit. Or if it's a new tank in the group and the DPS or Healer wants the tank to speed run it when he's used to it and start trying to kick him for going too slow. That sucks as well.

If everyone is on the same page and wants to do the speed run, then that's fine, but if they're not, then it's not fine.

Generally, as a tank, I make a mid-size pull without even asking only AFTER I check the other party member's equips at the start area of the instance. If I see they're i100-i100+, I make that mid-size pull. Based on how well they handle that clues me in to what they can handle. After that, I just make large pulls and, if I'm Paladin - Flash > CoS > Flash > RoH combo > Shield Bash things that might need be. I generally never lose hate doing that. If I'm Warrior, Tomahawk > OP > Infruriate > Cyclone > BB combo > Cyclone. Same as Paladin, generally never lose hate. The only time I maybe ever lose hate is if there are two BLMs blasting off Flares back-to-back. But generally, keeping hate isn't too much of a problem.

sometimes trying to do things faster is like trying too hard. like you can clear a dungeon in 15 minutes while you can actually enjoy the game. but if you push yourself at your limit you can do it in 10 minutes but you have to concentrate yourself for the entire 10 minutes in a low level dungeon, it's not a good way of playing for everyone.

I myself can do speedrun but sometimes I'd rather do it 5 minutes slower while I can relax in the dungeon. 5 minutes don't mean anything. ppl are ok with themselves AFKing for hours but they'll get mad because of their party members make their dungeon run take 5 mins longer. doesn't make sense.

the best way is... make a premade party if you want to do speedrun.

welcome to final fantasy....where if you do things fast and efficiently, you get punished......and if people cry enough about you doing it faster and more efficiently than them.....you get banned.

The social stigma against speedrunners comes from the commonality with which one will appear in a Duty Finder roulette and, one of the following tends to occur based on class:

-If a tank, they'll immediately rush ahead to take no less than four sets of trash mobs without even inspecting their healer or giving a warning, fail to rotate cooldowns, and complain when they die.
-If a healer, give the tank and DPS grief for not going fast enough, while they themselves do nothing to contribute to dungeon speed because they'd rather afk and watch youtube than cleric stance and pop a couple of dots or Holy to do their part.
-If a DPS, passive-aggressively remark that the dungeon is taking too long while clocking a pathetic 180 DPS or something equally bad and not being able to find their limit break key on boss encounters.

Speedrun groups are a blast and I enjoy the activity of maximizing my output on content that was outdated the second it was released.

Expecting every person using Duty Finder to be familiar with speed runs is unreasonable to new players who have no way of knowing the speed run strategy. Frankly, I've seen my fair share of people with unrealistic ideas of how the game will progress and watched them explode in frustration when the reality of the situation becomes apparent.

Others like me have come to expect the game to move at a snails pace and have adjusted our expectations accordingly.

Personal experience and comparison seem to indicate that being a speedrunner is one of the largest risk factors for being an asshole. I've easily seen ten times more tanks losing their damn mind because a healer couldn't match the four packs of enemies dps output or there was insufficient aoe, than fresh fifties screaming bloody murder because someone asked them to skip a cutscenes. Actually... My girlfriend is the only person I've seen rage quit due to others' disdain for her cutscene watching... Positive I've seen ten of more douchey speedrunners though. Haha

Bottom line, not all assholes are speed runners, and not all speed runners are assholes. Just... Try to acknowledge the other people playing and be nice ffs, not that hard.

Personally i dont speed run because I want to end things as fast as possible, I speed run because its just more fun and challanging than running a slowly sure-win run ( ' x '

i laughed waaaay longer than i should of lmao.
anyways, i personally am okay with speedruns...for the most part IF I CAN HANDLE HEALING.
if not, tank needs to pull less for me. i always had this problem in brayflox. i do all i can but for example, pulling the entire map
and i can't heal, and he attempts it again, it's not going to work.
god forbid for asking for smaller pulls, then some DPS get pissy. i always commerdate tanks and give a personal thank you for
those who listen to me and/or asks if i want smaller pulls. i am not going to break a finger n stress out n be called names
because i just can heal 600 mobs well. xd
