What's with all the food?

Ever since 1.18 went live, I've been inundated with food. Leves now give it as rewards. Treasure chests pop out blue cheese and bouillabaisse like it's a Pez dispenser. I've got eel pies and tomato pies and shepherd's pies. Boiled shrimp and coconut shrimp and fried shrimp and, okay, that's enough Forrest.

Given the overall lackluster performance of food pre-1.18, has anyone noticed anything more significant post?

Point is that before 1.18, food was basically non-existent as rewards. Now, it's everywhere.

(And LOL at +20HP, I'm hoping that was sarcasm...)

Well I'm hoping this means we're finally getting a list on food stats soon we know what to eat for what gain.. ^_^;; Or it could say right on the food even.

Food actually has relatively clear stat boosts. It just doesn't say in game. There is a post on ZAM that explains it. Different food works for different ranks and races and it scales with rank. So food that gives +5 STR at RNK10 does not do the same at rank 5 and conversely food for rank 5 won't give the same stats at rank 30. How much it scales for using optimum food I have not tested. I will do this tonight since I have lots of it.

I had high hopes for my Culinarian skills once they overhaul it. I could actually be useful! But now, with the crazy amount of food being handed out for nearly every other quest and leve, no one will need to buy or request food when they can just receive it as a reward

It's a good way to introduce food to the majority of players who never bothered with it before. But I agree they should lower the amount of food items that can be received as rewards - especially from treasure chests handing out whole stacks of goodies.
