I'm wondering if you can place a gearset in a macro (because there no other way i can change the icons on the gearsets)

I THINK I once set a gearset to my hotbar if thats what you want. If you want to make an actual user macro Im not sure about that
What's wrong with the icons?
Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong, it simply means you have an opinion. Don't get irritated when people don't agree.
it's possible to put a gearset on the hotbar (i have 3 there) but I find the icons too bland and think it could be more interesting to use ability icons for them (like using Flare, Phantom Dart or Fire III for BLM gearsets for example)
yes
/gs change ##
## number of gearset in your gearset lists
This sounds like the best thing ever....

Nothing really. it's just that I find them a little plain compared to the ability icons (and the ability to use them as macro icons)
Well the anser is in SongJoohee's post, but there are some flaws and tradeoffs (Namely that PvP icons or icons from another class are perceptually darkened unless you go to Frontlines/Wolves' Den or change classes, respectively) I still wish there was a subcomand that uses the icon without their respective cooldown effects or MP/TP/HP costs
Yes i did. I find the ability icons more interesting than the generic macros ones (and in Tri-Disaster's case way more fitting for a macro using all three Black Mage elemental spells)I'm not sure I follow you. Did you use the /micon command to set the icon then? If you change the icon through the menu (not via the text command) it should behave as a perfectly generic icon. I used to have a Flare macro like that and it annoyed me because it was perpetually lit up (even when some of the abilities used in the macro were on CD).
