Thing is, if you're in a Hunting party, then all you're doing is Hunting. You are actively scouring areas for Hunt mobs to kill, and if you're not then you're a leech. In a Hunting party, you are doing nothing but running, and running, and running, and hoping that you find a pop before someone else does, and hoping that if someone ELSE in your party finds a pop you can get to their position before the Horde moves in.
For FATEs, though, you're free to do pretty much anything you want as long as you stay in the same zone. You can craft, gather, do other FATEs for Atmas or Alexandrite. Heck, you don't even have to do stuff IN GAME - waiting on a FATE, you can do housework, read a book, cook food, whatever.
Daily hunts allow you lots of flexibility with how you spend your time waiting for pops. Hunting parties do not, and the way you need to spend your time is anything but fun.
