not i80 gear. if you want your tank to get stronger, use your healer to farm myths and buy an i90 body piece. nobody who can farm myths Needs an i80 piece to use.
get some gil and buy an i90 crafted tank piece.
anything less than i90 is glamour and vanity only.
Actually your wrong I've seen multiple people myth farming in i55/i70 so even though temporary i80 is still a upgrade weather it's for main or alt

You know some people are new to game and don't have Alt Jobs or are VERY casual and only play enough to run a dungeon or 2 every few days. Not everyone can sit on their butts everyday for hours at t time to farm all the myth super fast and get that i90 Gear. So that i80 Piece would work just fine for them.
As far as people needing items for Desynth/Seals or Vanity, if you really want that piece for Vanity yourself or because its an upgrade for an alt Job, THEN PLAY THE DAMNED JOB THAT NEEDS IT and roll need.
With all the new stuff in game ( Desyth for example ) needing on that i80 piece for leveling Desyth is just a valid reason to need as someone wanting to greed for an alt Job.
It's very different, you need gear for stats, you want gear for glamour, there is no such thing as needing aesthetics, will you get turned away from runs for not looking pretty? Is there a vanity level requirement for content? No but there is an item level requirement for content based on stats, therefore you need stats, you want glamour.
Should I go to content barely scraping the Ilvl requirement, barely pulling my weight and being a liability, or should I go on a job that I will make a huge difference to the party? The only problem here is the healer was being selfless, possibly sacrificing loot to contribute to the party more.
