Furthermore, I think FFX & FFXIII should have been part of a FF spin-off 'Cinematic Action' series. Both those games are extremely linear, have no open-world to explore, and depend heavily on cutscenes to progress the story. They are a marked departure from the rest of the series.
To be fair, every FF game was extremely linear - extremely until 1 major plot point in the game then every FF game gave you the ability to "explore" in order to get optional bosses or items (like ultimate weapons), FFX+ just made it that much more obvious. For example you could never tackle a FF storyline from any other direction other than the one set forth - To get to the northern crater in VII you needed to go a very set path, then a bunch of stuff happened, then it opens then you go straight to sephy boy or tie up loose ends that happened during your linear path.

I stopped reading your post when I realized you had X-2 on your list and not IX or pre VII.

must be the only one who just want more skills in general because
using the same skills do get a tad boring.

FF1 had some solid exploration in it... I remember reaching the NE point on the southern contenent and finding an area where Trolls and Gigas spawned long before you should be able to fight them.

FF3, FF4, FF5 and FF6 all had good exploration, even in the early game.

Same with FF9 -- that area above the ladder Gizamaluke's Grotto stands out

and.. Bravely Default also has an open-ish world as well (though not an official FF title)

I think the best of the single player games was FF12.. lots of places to go in that game, once you got outside of Rabanastre

Of course, no FF game even comes close to the non-linear exploration that exists in FF11.

Also, note that FF7, FF8, FF10, and FF13 were all done by the roughly the same SE development team -- you can see how each of their games became successively more and more linear, all culminating in the thinly-disguised corridor-runner that FF13 was.

From Gravity magic, haste and etc for mages.

To some weapon skills. I wanna see more abilities for all Classes in upcoming patches.

I can't name all, but i know most will agree that to feel more final fantasy like in the future.

I'm sure over the course of the next few years we are going to see many new classes and jobs, level cap raises, and more to come in the skills department.

I don't think we will see much what people are really asking for.

Look at the usefulness of stun/silence/sleep in the current endgame.

The developers don't want any abilities that would give any Job an advantage over another in any content (Once it was known that Titan-Egi could tank Ramuh EX, the fight was patched in mere hours.). It's why there is no elemental wheel or proper support jobs in the game.

Unless this design philosophy changes, all new abilities (including those of new Classes/Jobs) will be either:

    A) DPS/HEALING/TANKING rotation add-ons -- with high priority given to strict role parity in all situations

    -or-

    B) Interesting skills that are only usable on trash mobs.

It's my biggest gripe with ARR. The spectacle is the only thing that can change in future updates - beneath the visual trimmings, the game won't ever really grow or evolve. Every patch will consist of iLvl+10, new boss gimmicks and peripheral trinkets (housing, minions, mounts, etc)

Job skills are a clear example of Complexity without Depth.
Character/Gear Progression in ARR is just naked POWER CREEP (further exacerbated by content nerf each patch)

I would never consider this a sustainable model for a game, but perhaps they feel that FF fans want story most of all, and by drip-feeding the story (and iLvl +10) to players as they run the treadmill, they can keep the subs coming in. *That is, until players realize they can skip all this and watch the whole story on YouTube for free.

I do have a lot of respect for the talent of the developers, but not for the way they modeled the game. Perhaps it was the only way Yoshi-P could get ARR out the door in a resonable time and budget... But even now, I don't see much changing.
