I played lots of FTP MMOs. You know how the upgrading works there? You get upgrade items with real money. The higher the upgrade level, the lower the chances of success. The last upgrade level on one game had a success rate of 0.01%. You could have spent thousands of dollars and still not get your upgrade.
Just suck it up, OP. This game is extremely generous with success rates and I really don't see how anyone could blame SE on this one. Good luck next time.
it really ruins your day doesn't it?
Yours were worse than mine

That's why I ditched adding (and risking) expensive +2 Tier IV Det and went for +2 Tier 1 Acc instead.

But they took 1.0's crafting and made it VERY good in 2.0, the best in game crafting system I've ever seen (well, the process, i dunno about the stuff you craft though). With materia, they just took a system that was bad and made it less bad. It's not *good* by any stretch of the imagination. The non-interactive RNG fail chance on Novus is pretty lackluster too.1.0 was a time where even double melds were harsh. You had to use the flunky crafting UI to make a very expensive weapon (some pieces NEEDED to be HQ which was a pain from the get go) then you needed very expensive materia to double meld. First was always 100% but then the second meld dropped to 30% success, which may as well have been 10% success. If you failed, you lose ALL materia AND the weapon you spent so much crafting.
At least on Ragnarok at the time, base weapons were 10 mil, materia was maybe 5m each. This system, even Novus, is so much more tame then it once was. This is not even mentioning FFXI
Well, sort of. The lowest % fail chance on any novus step is 50%. Overmelding starts at 45% (only if you're melding a Tier 1 materia in the first overmeld slot) and goes downhill from there (down to 6%? in the 4th slot for Tier IV). While I like the customization options available to melded gear, the process of spirit bonding and overmelding are both pretty craptacular when compared to the innovative crafting system.So I guess now the DoW folks know how much it sucks to meld for crafting and gathering. ; ;
I agree that the % chance of success is really bad... both for overmelding and for getting tier IV materia in the first place. :/ Yes, 1.0's method sucked more, but what we have now sucks too.

For summoner, going Tier III on both CRT and DET while adding ACC instead while switching one piece of gear for an Evenstar piece is a difference of about 0,013% DPS less but gives you some security on the next tier of content depending on its ACC requirement. I like though that you're judging people's Novus based on ignorance, keep at it champ!
Is there any other alternative for Materia IV?
prices are impossible.....
So you really believe +11 crit +8 det is going to make a noticeable difference in DPS? it's the difference of about 2-3 DPS. Yeah. Really going to make a huge difference lol.
Just because I was smart enough to realise 2-3 DPS does not justify the cost when I can pump out over 400 DPS with the Novus I have, no need to get abusive.
