I was thinking it would be really interesting if players could effect the direction of some content in development in game by using resources to push forward with a particular goal. Essentially, the adventurers could vote with their gil and resources for a particular campaign. For the sake of argument, lets say we have two options that we could throw our gil and resources at:

1) The adventurers, moved by refugees' stories of loss at the hands of the Garleans, collectively declare all out war on the Garleans, leading to a prolonged siege of Ala Mhigo.

2) The adventurers, fed up with constant harassment from hostile beastmen tribes, throw their resources at an all out war on the most aggressive of the beastmen tribes (Amaljaa, Ixali, or sahagin).

In either case, if the players provide enough resources for the war campaign, we would see some minor immediate changes in the world, a new dungeon in a future content patch going in the direction that players voted for, and dialogue in the story would be effected by the decision.

I know there have been previous attempts at this in other MMORPGs, but I still think it would be great if Yoshi could get it to work here. What does everyone else think?
