    Instead of the Hunt

    Implement the BCNM/KSNM system from XI. Instanced mob using items said player has collected, I see this as a prime alternative to the insane camping/cheating on the hunt system. Instanced fights like this can be easily completed by active and/or large FC's. The higher the number of 'seals' the greater the difficulty of the mob.

    Spawn items can be acquired by completing dungeons, START to FINISH, purchasable via GC seals...jack the price up if need, seeing how easy GC seals are to get. Purchasable by Myth, Soldiery, but they're available to players of all ilk and make.

    Radar, and 3rd party add-ons will do one no good since this is an instanced fight. No game crashes and super lag from 50+ players crowding into an area, no ninja pulling, no hostility. Veritable time sink as well, since these fights should provide very solid gear, but be quite challenging at the same time. So to learn these fights...one must acquire and spend seals. You wipe, fight's over. Get another 25, 50, 99 seals. Depending on how seals are implemented, add a number and/or weekly cap on them if need, to keep the super hardcores from gaining 10+ stacks of 99 seals. And for the player who has no FC, or their FC doesn't have the members or the ilvl requirements for these fights, then there's the hunt.

    I see nothing wrong with the old BCNM/KSNM system being implemented on ARR, if anyone out there has anything to add to, or support this idea, or something I may have missed or not thought about, please speak it. I just had to get this idear out there.

    It's not a bad idea.......... except for the fact that it's not what people wanted, or what the devs wanted to deliver. In case you forgot, there was a loud cry for OPEN WORLD CONTENT that weren't FATEs. What you're proposing is instanced, which is directly the opposite of what they asked for.

    Like I said, it's not a bad idea and would solve problems, but it's just another theme-park trial ride.

    I haven't forgotten hon, but that content has degenerated to an entirely new level...as evident by most of the posts about it. At this point, SE's damned if they do, damned if they don't. It's like ordering a pizza for a platoon. Some love pepperoni and mushrooms, but hate onions and peppers...some love mushrooms and peppers, but hate pepperoni and onions. I just believed that instanced fights would make a good alternative to go along with world fights.

    While I believe you can't please everyone all of the time, if SE were to go back and redesign the hunts to be all instanced rather than open world (which is what the title of your thread is suggesting), they would lose FAAAAAR more players than if they were to keep the open world hunts. A descent alternative may be to balance the tome rewards a little bit better while adding the instanced NMs you suggest. But just like FFXI, that takes time to develop; they weren't all added at launch.

    Not to mention it would just be ANOTHER thing gated behind something. Gating which players tend to complain about more often than not.

    I think they could try implementing something like in Diablo 3, whenever another player joins the game, the mobs gain hp, defense and attack buffs. So say, the more players on a mob's hatelist, the more powerful it becomes. The more people try to zerg it, the more powerful it becomes.

    They would have to cap the attack buffs to prevent even the auto-attacks from becoming one shot, but the HP and defense should just go up limitlessly.

    I agree with this, but nobody wants to admit Blizzard did something right, let alone Diablo 3 (which I find myself playing more these days)

    No No, the system is fine.. Tag an A mob, get it down to 95% without anyone there... the server shows up.. A rank dies 6 seconds later, walk away with my 2 seals. Yup, seems to be working just fine............ /endsarcasm

    This set up is a joke and the "hotfix" was a joke as well. If I want to group with people, it's going to be with friends, I don't see why I forced to group with random people for a few seconds just to get credit for a mark that I FOUND and I PULLED. I'd group with friends, but to run around a zone for an hour to MAYBE find a single mark to get credit before the rest of the server gets to it?

    They should have left the health alone, make them spawn 3 or 4 times as much and reduce the rewards down to match the spawn rate, make it worth for a group to run around a single zone and actually hunt them. Not this wait for the entire server to show up zerg that is going on now, it's not enjoyable, at least to me it's not.

    I like the hunts. Where else can I find a place to use my "Benny Hill Theme Song" for events in FFXIV and have it fit so well...
