    Gear Damage on 'Return'

While this hasn't yet happened to me, a LS friend last night indicated he died, and returned to the aetheryte he had just established as his HP. Upon return, he noticed ALL his gear was @ 35%. If this is true, I don't understand why they made it so, and I don't think this is fair at all, especially now with 'return' costing 0 anima, there is no need to blood warp anymore (which I do understand they were looking to discourage).

This is extremely punative with average of 10 gear @ 4500g, assuming all upper tier gear, that's 45Kg now. Players will, time to time, just die, with return being the only option.

Am I missing something here? Is this the way it works now? Does anyone else have issues with this?

Initially it may seem unfair, but in reality it makes perfect sense. They NEED to remove gil from the economy. It's far too flooded and it's perfectly normal to see people walking around with over 10 mil in pure cash. Making your gear get owned when you die and don't get a raise does three things; discourage careless/wreckless play, encourage party play & teamwork, remove gil from the economy. All things this game desperately needs.

I know it sucks having to pay a lot for repairs (try running Darkhold for a couple hours then look at your broken-ass gear lol) but it's for a better FFXIV future, trust me.

Last night some LS guys and I died twice in toto-rak after seeing that there was some gear damage i noticed that my shield needed repair but as i looked at my other gear it was all at about 50% every single piece with the exception of accessories so spending 21k to fix this stuff which is still cheaper then repair npc but a pain in the ass

I like it. It's fair for the repair economy as money will flow smoothly (I'm not a crafter). It encourages people to fight for their lives, not to mention that it creates a certain degree of "fear" and "pumping heart" during battles.

Also, it makes Raise and similar skills even more useful. This also encourages people to at least travel in pairs, because travelling solo in Eorzea is dangerous (while remain possible), as it should be.

i really understand that it makes things challenging which is great but when you have to stop partying because of gear damage or spend gil on extra gear it becomes an issue not everyone has a million gil to throw around

I can see how this could prove to be a real issue, but generally if you're partying (and not dying) you won't get a ton of gear wear and should only have to repair every few hours (totally reasonable).

yeah but when your trying to help your LS mates with toto-rak then there's going to be some dying there were other ppl outside of the dungeon complaining about the same thing

well ofcourse, just play wisely or try not to get killed instead.. o_O i know is wishful thinking, but that exactly the point, ppl carefree to die as much as they wanted without a thought of penalty, and once is added you now need to rethink of dying. I hope it stay this way, is perfect for now.. hehe

Oh, well I can't say I've run into that problem yet. I ran it as 35 ARC, with a 25 LNC, a 32(?) CON and one other guy around 30 and we didn't have to suffer any deaths (without raise, remember, it's only without raise that you take a big gear hit).
