what is better for endgame?

I wanted to say 'As a bard, you'll never hit for 1300', but the number is not really the point (I stopped gearing my DRG @92). It is well known that DRGs have the attack with the highest potency (330), while BRDs Misery End is not even close to that. But their DPS is overall pretty nice (for a support class )

Looks like the context was that you will never see a B4B Crit Full Thrust as Bard.
To OP. If others of the same level are doing 1-3x more damage than you, than it must be you and not bards issue. Bard is one of the simplest, most mobile and forgiving DDs. If your damage is that bad as bard, then moving to a more complex class will not do you any good.
Suggestion: Get to 50 on Bard. Get some decent gear. Practice your skills in endgame. Then decide.

I see you have picked up an HQ vintage bow. Good choice. Have you noticed any difference in your DPS? Also, meld some DET into that thing for a bit more dmg, not game breaking but evey bit helps.

Have both and prefer dragoon over monk simply because as DRG I don't have to run around the boss so much to do more damage, I have less risk to get my dps interrupted while dodging etc and dragoon just feels most versatile dps class for me. My favourite DPS list:
1) DRG - I feel I can do any content and adapt to any situation
2) BRD - can buff party, do decent damage (half the people say bard can do very high damage, others say bard does lowest damage from all dps. I just know that with all the singing stuff bard still do decent damage), able to move around freely
3) MNK - I hate the many back/flank attacks and greased lightning stuff. Too lazy for this and feel awkward when playing as monk. Not fun for me and I don't do job properly - using MNK only when helping friends in coil 1 (for silencing ADS) or in low level dungeons nowadays

Try MNK and DRG and see which feels more fun to you. After decision is made start learning how to improve the performance on your chosen job.

Yea, at least one bard is needed in every end-game raid. Whether for healers MP, or Foe's for extra magic damage. Bards deal sustained damage and are highly mobile, so even though you don't see the big numbers, you are always attacking through mechanics, where classes like monk and dragoon may have to separate from a target, bard keeps on with the pew pew which narrows the gap as far as DPS goes.

Ideally, though, you will want to level both pugilist and lancer, since their cross-class abilities will be required for end-game raids. Internal Release (pugilist), Blood for Blood and Invigorate (lancer) mainly. So play them and see how you like.

BRD has that lowest dps ceiling, but is also the least effected by fight mechanics and movement. Therefore, in general content BRD won't perform much differently from other jobs, but the closer a fight is to being like a striking dummy, the more other jobs will pull ahead. If a fight is a lot like a dummy, than GG MNK wins. Highest sustained single target dps in the game.

Ok, that was completely unrelated to the point the previous poster was trying to make.. Someone needs attention, I see?

On a serious note. Bards are a support job and they deal respectable damage. You haven't even capped yet so you have NO idea what awaits you on the other side of 50. I have the artemis bow zenith with a couple i100 pcs and I dps around 320-330. While no spike damage like DRG or constant 400+ dps like mnk, BRD's crits are pretty good when you have eagle eye and internal release in the rotation. I've crit for 480-520 on the regular once all my buffs are up.

Also, ppl forgot but BRD was NERFED horribly about 7-8 mos ago. Just check the forums. There were ppl moaning about how killer Misery's End was and BRD's overall high dps. Other DPS were NOT happy about it considering we were a "support" class.

But just hang in there, get some myth gear & a artemis, wave or Rosenbogen.. You'll be very pleased with the dps. And like everyone is saying. For 8 man raids, a bard is a healer's bff!
