    Copperbell mines hard

OK so I did this for the first time and sucked royally on the last boss any advice would be great. I'm a bard btw.

Here's what happened. I'd read the strategy and was going to do the crystals but the healer started grabbing them so not wanting to double up I left him to it.

All ok until about 25% hp left on the boss. Lots of adds came in so I started taking them down, worm sucked us in - healer must have missed a crystal and then boss roars and kills me. Healer resses immediately after res boss roars and kills me again as I don't have enough hp to survive. We end up wiping.

take 2 same thing but they managed to get him down with me dead I'm not sure what I could have done differently. If I'd gone for the crystals each time we'd have run out as the healer kept going for them and they were Japanese and I'm english so that made it harder.

Is it actually this hard or was I unlucky. And that roar the boss does is there any way to avoid it? I need to be alive at the end of this for my atma book I got this morning o_O

    thank you for any replies

If you get a JP group say:

    <--- 石 me ok!

This means you will get stones. Dont stray to far from healer stay within medica range but far enough that you can get to the next rock quickly. You cant avoid roar just need to mitigate with succor or be in range for medica to clean up. Ultimately its best if healer gets rocks.

Some tend to tank in center and range players (healer blm brd smn etc etc) satellite around the room dealing with stones and maintaining a good range from one another for heals etc. Another way is to tank boss where adds come in and just use the stones in that general area as you can kill this boss by the time you use 2-3 stones so there is enough in that general spot that its pretty safe.

Thank you It's always a bit mad going into a dungeon the first time lol. I read the strategies beforehand so I'm not a burden on the group, but it's not the same as experiencing it. I think one of the problems was it seemed to be taking a long while to dps him down. We had a lot of adds which meant a lot of target switching which didn't help - the strategies I read said you'd only get one or two o_O. I don't think there's a problem per se with my dps as I've had no trouble with the Haukke manor hard final boss, even when I had my green ilvl 70 bow, but the sheer amount of adds meant less time on the boss. I'll have to give it another go and see how it goes next time and hopefully will have better communication re the crystals.

The other dps a dragoon I was with was new also so it was a learning experience for us both.

Update: ran it again today, no problems. Healer did the crystals, was at half health at the end from shouts but fine apart from that got the entry for my animus book - yay.

There are a lot of ways to do this boss, it just requires communication.

The easiest method I've encountered is for the tank to lead the boss counter-clockwise around the room so that picking up crystals doesn't put anyone out of range and the adds will spawn very close to the group. This method requires more party co-ordination though.

The method most people use is the one you mentioned above, but then you have to deal with range issues (which always drives me bonkers).

Glad to hear you got through the fight! I just want to add that the shouts (Impact Roar) are also stunnable, so your tank (or any melee DPS) can easily stop the first three before stun resistance kicks in. Let your party members know this if Impact Roar is ever a problem in the future.

Well, he can't do anything about it as a bard, but when i do this boss as a tank or monk, i try to stun the roar.

The roar can be interrupted, but as the boss has others abilities sometimes stuns used not at the roar, but stuns should be saved for it. (only a cast bar).
Of course there is the built in stun resistance after the 3rd.

    It is team work.

Don't know if it can be silenced too, never done it as PLD, and my BRD not high enough

EDIt : didn't saw what I wrote was already said by Bamboofox
