I'm just glad it's another Extreme fight that doesn't have tank swapping. Good lord, so sick of that "mechanic."

But it has a tank swap mechanic. It's just Titan-Egi makes that mechanic irrelevant, and the timing on your static buff makes it really strict to safely get it back up if you tried to solo-tank it with a PLD or WAR.

Because tank swapping mechanics were soooo prevalent... oh wait. Only a few fights have it, and that was a result of "off-tanks" complaining they had nothing to do!
As for the topic at hand, since Titan-Egi is a tank-pet, I don't see this as any different than 1-healer methods, 1-tank methods or 3-healer methods for various stuff.

Pretty sure tank swaps 'happened' because people keep trying to 5+ dps in fights when SE wants people to bring 2 tanks for 8 mans (Titan HM). They added 3 extremes, 2 of them were tank swaps. They added ultima HM and that was a tank swap. They added moogle and levi extreme and one of them was a tank swap. They added ramuh ex and that has a tank swap until players decide to tank it with egis. Out of 7 trials added, 4 of them are tank swaps intended. Even t6 has a tank swap (we go 1 tank now) and my static used to try swapping for ravensbeak on t9. I'm not sure if t9 was intended to be a tank swap fight but that's 1 out of 4 2nd coil that has tank swap mechanic. I would say that warrants more than a sarcastic remark on the amount of tank swaps in these 8mans. Additionally, relic hydra had a cleave mechanic that used to require 2 tanks to take the damage together. I haven't seen that in any other fights in this game. Really odd to have one mechanic appear in almost half the fights but only 1 other mechanic appear once.
Anyway, my problem is the weapon drops. Tanks can easily switch to dps but the weapons do not drop all the time while the accs does. I can see the ring drops be put on lock rolls in PF groups but I'm not convinced that the weapon locks will be the norm of PFs. Since these parties will have no tanks, if a tank weapon drops, it will most likely be put on FFA rolls. A tank that switches to a dps for this fight and actually needs the weapons as an upgrade will have a really really low chance of getting his weapon in most of these PF parties.
