Voice Chat Segregating PS4 and PC Players

Yes - bringing this topic up again.

I been noticing a lot more recently how voice chat has become end-game recommended. I like voice chat myself - it makes sense when things are moving fast and communication is essential.

I also been noticing how its very hard to maintain good communication with PS4 players who either don't have a PC or laptop for a 3rd party voice chat or even a keyboard. That's right - quite a few of the new players don't even have keyboards and just rely on the Playstation chat.

What do you do when it comes to end game? "Hey PS4 player in our Coil party, just jump up once for yes or jump up twice for no" "After your turn on the silence rotation, run around in circles so we know you went"

I am even seeing Party Finder requirements for "Know the fight and PS4 chat only"

The PS4 console looks fantastic with its game play graphics. But if you really want to call this game multi platformed - best make sure one system doesn't lack what another has.

What we do is use skype, as it runs on phones, and other devices, while this does require other devices, the effect is positive with our group.

What I do is run my PS4 through my X1 and run skype over the sound system for great audio conferencing as my wife and I play in the same room. However, I fully support mumble, teamspeak, ventrillo apps to be brought to PS4/X1 but that might be a long way off if not a pipe dream.

Hope that helps. Skype has very clear calls, and we get a bunch of people on the call at a given time.

You can even run Skype on PSPs... not quite sure why Skype is on the PSP, though. That said, I don't use voice chat either because I do have a keyboard and if you can take the time to learn the fight communication only needs be an issue beforehand when arranging strategies.

Back when i played on PS3 i would actually use my cellphone to set up TeamSpeak so i could chat with people while i play, almost everyone has a cellphone i find

as a leader of a PS4 FC, its very impractical to use any ancillary device with the ps4 and a microphoned headset.
we run 8 man content just fine. the limitations though are that we can only have 8 people in 1 voice chat.
I've thought about running with an iPhone ear bud connected to my laptop/iPad with skype, underneath my headset. but that sounds like a cluster F* of sound and people potentially talking over one another.

We can only hope that skype/vent/teamspeak come up with something for PS4 that adds capacity to the number of people on PS4 voice chat.

If you know the fight beforehand, you set up chat macros to alert players about things. Voice chat is never 100% needed to do anything (though it can help a lot). As an MMORPG player for around 13 years, I can tell you for a fact that you can get by EASILY without it (as if the fact that Japanese players don't use voice chat very often wasn't enough).

As for people without a keyboard on the PS4, they're playing an MMORPG. It kinda goes without saying that easing your means of chatting becomes a great help. Even when PSO was new on the Dreamcast, having a keyboard to interact was a big help, and that game doesn't demand as much interaction as more modern games. It's not mandatory for said person, but it does require more work to perform up to expectations due to limited communication (along with other limitations involved with difficulty chatting).

For some reason, I don't feel like things like T8 are as 'easy' to do without Voice Chat. There's a degree of coordination there that requires on-the-fly coordination. I know this because I try to coordinate my team through the turn constantly.
(And before you say, 'everyone just has specific tower duty', Hello Allagan Field, which could -isntantly- screw a party over / have too many people stacking a single tower to try and compensate)

Even Ramuh seems to be a coordination check, because I've noticed most whipes from a 2-tank party isn't caused by orbs or the DPS check, but rather from people who just can't follow a simple numbering system.

Most of our FC on pS4 runs TS via App on their smart phones

What I do is to get around this is use a vita and invite my bf to party chat while listening through my PC. Seems to work for me I realize not everyone can do this though..
