    S ranks worse than Odin was.... Did they learn nothing?

    I mean really, they already fixed the problem in fates but didn't think ahead for hunts that are worth so much more? Its worse on ps3, but pc is still bad.. Died to an iron giant because you can only load so many people at a time.. It is so very ridiculous. Can we please get a fix the same way that odin and behemoth now work?

    It appears no one on the dev team leveled up marauder, because none of them seem to have foresight.

    Just did 2 S rank hunts and I couldnt see the mark or target any party members to heal them and didnt get anything for it. Its a complete joke, pre-alpha quality implementation. SE need to fix this fast they're pissing off alot of people right now.

    To be fair, Yoshida said that the hunts weren't even planned. I don't mean not planned for 2.3, I mean not planned at all. They decided to design them and implement them some time between the finalization for 2.2 and the introduction for 2.3 because of how many people were asking for open world NMs. If the rewards weren't to upgrade gear to the current highest ilvl then it wouldn't have been a problem.

    The reason NMs worked in FFXI is because they dropped specific items, not a currency every job used for end-game gear. That is the biggest oversight they made with the system.

    As a former FFXI long term player, people act as all the things that they are adding now we there from the start. FFXI start out just like this and build on to become one of the more involved story driven MMOs on the market. I played this from 1.0 and as of today I'm very impressed with development of the game. NM farming was almost this bad back when they first introduced it into the game. The only thing that makes it WAY worse the FFXI is the ability to use the net to farm it. It has been less then a week since patch and almost everyone is QQ about a mob they didn't get credit for. I remember camping for O kote my first, second and third time. First time was nothing but gil farmers other two times it was just campers that lined up around the castle for the drop. I had claim on them a few times but never a drop. SE has made it a little easier to get seals for the claim if you do damage but I do agree they need to increase the level of the mob so it doesn't die in secs.

    More like 10-15 mins. Those where the real nms. But at the same time the forum poster would then say they do not have time to camp and kill a mob like the good old FF players did......

    High level NMs never worked out, because they were too overcamped and had too bad drop rates. The NMs that did work out well, where those who dropped low level stuff so you didn't need them at endgame but if you felt like leveling a new job you could get them to speed up the process slightly. Leaping Lizzy, Dune Empereror or whatever it was called etc.

    Sure, it barely worked with limited drops like Yinyang robe, but that one was still overcamped by everyone with 75 SMN or intending to level SMN for 6+ months after release. I was maining SMN and played 1 year before I got the robe due to the high camp rate.

    This, for the most past. NM's were designed as something to run into, in a game that was intentionally designed to take a lot of time to level. The reason the NMs' value skyrocketed is because people wanted to grind exp as fast as possible, and certain pieces of gear dropped by NMs offered more stats than anything else that player would see for a long time and in turn facilitated the rat race the players turned leveling into. Consider that most of the gear in FFXI had either useless elemental resistances or no stats at all before the 30's.

    This said: no, NMs didn't work in FFXI. Abyssea boss mobs worked but that was due to them circumventing the idea behind NMs in the first place.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
