How to Glamour a Piece of Armor?

Ok, so, all cards on the table here.

I don't have even the slightest idea of how to use glamour to make one piece of armor look like another. I completed the quest, but was a bit confused. What do I actually need to be able to use a glamour, and what is the process involved?

Let's just use the example: I want to make my Magician's Robe body piece look like my SMN Artifact body piece (Evoker's Robe? can't remember the name). How would I go about doing this?

I'm very much interested in using glamours, but it seems a bit complex, though that could just be me.

As always, thanks for any and all help everyone!

Glamour prisms are actually crafted and separated by grade with various level ranges. You have probably obtained a "clear prism" from a quest, which is actually a crafting material for glamour prisms. To make a usable glamour prism, you need to have the appropriate Lv.50 crafter and the Master recipe (obtained in Revenant Toll).

You can also buy the crafted glamour prism simply by using the marketboard. Simply search for "Grade x glamour" (where x is the number you want). Mousing over the items will reveal the ilvl range of the prism. For your evoker's robe, you will use a grade 3 glamour prism (clothcraft), ranged 41-60.

Here's a database for you to refer to if you're confused about other items.

Be aware that glamour prisms have a significant mark-up on the marketboard. It honestly costs 300-500 gil to make them, but they sell for 6k or more. On the other hand, you may not want to take the time to level all your crafters to 50 just to make them. If you can, try to find a crafter friend you can bring the mats to instead.

Ok, that helps quite a bit! But just so I'm clear: I go by the iLevel of the item I want to be glamoured (as in the one that will be shown) correct? Or do I go by the iLevel of the piece that the new equipment will be going OVER?

You go by the ilvl of the cosmetic piece (one you want to be shown). So, if you wanted to turn your magician robe in to the Evoker, you'd use the grade 3 prism. If you wanted the appearance of an i15 acolyte robe, it would be a grade 1 prism.

Always remember. You cannot glamour what you cannot wear. Means.
Just imagine. If you were a lv 50 WHM and start to level a schollar (kinda the same armor), you can't glamour your lv50 gear on any gear that has lower level, but in reverse you can glamour lower level items on higher stuff.
