    Also, there's no exp or anything from melding. Should the person you request desynth from get the exp? That leads to powerleveling services for desynth, which they might not want to do. What about the success rates, do you see them before you go in? What happens when no one will want desynths from people who give them less than a 100% chance? Is that a problem?

    Dunno, I really want this feature, but I can see a bunch of pitfalls with it. Still, there has to be SOME way to desynth items that are untradable... I had nothing against the inability to have someone else desynth and nothing against the three crafts max before I realized just how insanely difficult and expensive it is to level desynthing. The costs rise super fast super quick near the end, and if I want to desynth my primal weapons, I need to level up a class spending possibly millions to get it to 100% (or close enough), and then level another class losing all that exp.

    And, since you can't "lock" classes, if you have three at near 100 and you want to raise a fourth in place of one of the threes, you have to spend hundreds of thousands of gil to restore the exp of the two classes you wanted to have high even though you really just want to lower a specific one. On top of all THAT, you start losing desynth exp well before you hit 300 when leveling multiple classes. Losing 0.6 in one class to gain 60 in another seems fair, until you realize that the 80.6-80.0 drop loss cost more than triple what the 1-60 gain cost.

    This basically makes it implausible to level more than three classes (and difficult to level more than two), to the extent that you literally CAN'T desynth Primal/other items that are not of a class you leveled. This is sad-face-making.

    Hmm, good points... there would be a couple of ways around I think.

    First off, I guess they could disable experience gain & loss from requested desynths. That would stop any assisted power levelling, and also stop you from losing/gaining points in crafts that you don't want to.

    Then, they could either,

    - Only allow people to request desynths when you reach a certain skill level (I dunno, say 90 or 95+? Maybe even 100?) Which would ensure a good success rate for most items, or;

    - simply allow your skill levels to be seen by anyone requesting, and the success rates, and leave it to the customer to decide whether to risk it with your low rating, or find another (potentially higher charging) crafter!

    Good ideas, but if experience gain/loss was removed for requested melds, I'd PREFER to have someone request the meld than do it myself when I hit 300 points spent. That way, I can keep my points where they are, and don't have to worry about how the desynth will mess with things. For example, I have 100 BSM, 100 GSM, and 95 ALC. I want to desynth an ALC item. I'd rather have someone else do it so I don't lose any BSM/GSM points than do it myself and have to make back whatever I lose in the other classes.

    Also, we don't yet know what happens if you have two classes at 100 and you desynth something. Do you still have a chance to lose points in the other class, even though you don't gain any in the class you desynthed?

    Still, I really really want this feature!

    Given the amount of mats locked up in untradeable items some sort of desynth request is really needed, perhaps with a fee structure or something attached. It makes no sense that crafters should need to be the person to get an item in order to desynth, and locks many people out of desynthesis who prefer to run dungeons. The chance / risk factor can be sorted by simply allowing the customer to withdraw after seeing the chance for the request item - I don't see any problem there.
