This is why I've been on Wildstar more lately, even the non-hard versions of dungeons are...well, hard.
We were the first to kill Ifrit.
Its because todays gamers in their 20's and younger are so used to crying and getting everything they want that its better for business to make the game extremely dumbed down and easy for any 4 year old to play. Companies lack the guts to stand tall and make a more challenging game like XI. I think now that SE sold their soul to the crybabies that there will never be another game where you may actually die...or take longer than a month to get to end game.
Too many babies with short attention spans.
XI is not the XI the OP is remembering. He's probably thinking of pre-WotG XI where it was actually challenging and took effort. A party took skill and team work. Not button mashing and yawning. Unfortunately the people who love a care bear game like XIV cried enough to get literally the entire game of XI nerfed. I mean literally the ENTIRE game. XI is a joke compared to what it was when it was great. Funny thing is, I think the last i saw XIV brags about having 2 million accounts. I think at XI's height (when it was actually challenging and time consuming) had over 6 million. If you want to play XI, go play XI? It's still alive, and SE continues to support and update it.
XI and XIV are totally different; XI is extremely inaccessible and XIV is very accessible. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, play both games? There's good features of each, and trying to turn XIV into an XI clone will just dismantle it like 1.0
So to the people who say a harder game cant make money, I say thats doubtful because games like XIV keep a small amount of regulars and then have a rotating mass of people who get bored of Care Bear Land and take months/years off. Probably to go play other MMO's to find one that isnt an exact replica of WoW like XIV is.
FFXi topped out at just over 500,000 subscribers and 1.7 million characters. According to Wada in 2008.
Challenge? Adventure?
Didn't you know I have a life/kids/friends/anything that I can use as a excuse to ask the developers to hand me rewards? Aint nobody got time for danger!
