Well I personally I have no issues with the hunt at all or whatsoever. I have got marks as I have missed something. But I'm not blaming SE for people's unfortunates.
Is like me blaming my phone company for my overspending...........

It's both, but it's manly the system. Wether it's being played the way the devs inteded it to be played or not, this is the reality, and they didn't take it into consideration. I honestly could not care less about sands of time, I wanted to hunt marks because it reminded me of XII's mark system, which was super fun. Sadly, all I experienced is pointless drama in shouts and invisible players and marks because the PS3 can't handle so many people in the same spot (and that is entierly on them).
They need to put a cap on seals and the people involved in the hunts. We are lacking endgame leves and guildhests and this could've been the perfect opportunity to introduce them, but instead it's just another Odin/Behemoth mess.
The FFXIVapp cheat is causing ALOT of flame on my server. The community is starting to fall apart cause of it, it was never this bad, now people are at each others throats threatening to report or going as far as to wish cancer or death upon each other/flaming each others family etc
Why is nothing being done about this? :S Why wont they just disable it til they find a better solution?
This I can agree with this APP business. This needs sorting. The should patch the game to block this app but I wouldn't take down the whole hunt for it. While it's true that we the users are not faultless that does not change the fact that this system was poorly designed and implemented. My favorite response to problems with the hunt is, "Wait a few weeks when the excitement has died down." If a system is designed in such a way that it cannot be enjoyed until most of the player base has lost interest, then it's a bad system.
There really isn't a problem with Hunts at all, the idea behind it is very cool and fun. But, I think the main issue with it has to do with players (not the initial system) going extremely hardcore over Hunts to the point where the monsters are killed faster than can be found by the casual player anymore (be it large hunt groups or radar). To a degree, yes, the system itself probably does have flaws and could probably be fixed by creating caps on how many seals you can get or how many monsters you can kill for credit, etc...but the player base seems to be the main problem in creating witch hunts/zerg fests out of this unique way of getting cool rewards and I'm sure that wasn't expected from the producers. I personally thought this system was going to work like leves where you'd have to pick up the bill to spawn the monster somewhere in the wild and that you'd need a small party to help kill it (like Peiste maps).
It's both. Last night at about 3:00 AM I was fishing and an "Elite" (1M% not elite) spawned right behind me. I switched to Paladin and waited for my cool downs to reset. By the time I was able to engage the monster nobody, literally nobody was within view. I waited. About 10 seconds later 50 players came running to my position. The shout was "Pull @ :21" and it was :05. By :21 there were no less than 100 players around the "Elite" and we actually didn't pull. It wasn't until :28 that a Warrior kicked off the fight. The "Elite" (not elite at all) died in about 5 seconds and the shout war began.
First, Square Enix has designed a TERRIBLE system. These hunts are pathetic. Second, the players are using third party software which locks out every other player who doesn't use the third party software. Combine that with the attitudes of entitled 12 year olds and elitist douchebaggery, and you have a pile of TRASH...
P.S. This is not my main...
In WoW we call this the "Mechanar Syndrome"; That is a activity that a person might not find enjoyable has rewards wholly out of proportion to it's effort, thus encouraging participation regardless of user feelings.
The RoI on effort regarding Sands/Oil within the hunt system is the issue. The system and it's implementation is at fault. Sands/Oil never should have been put on anything not holding a weekly lockout.
