Controller targeting non group members in frontlines

I'm having a weird time doing it? Up to this point, I've just pushed the d pad up and down to heal group members..now dudes are running around me everywhere, and I can't see to find the right guy in time. I've tried using the touchpad on dualshock4, but that's way to slow and unreliable. Tips?

Setup a targeting filter under the l1+facebutton combo and then you can use left right on dpad to cycle through those around you. You can limit the filter to be alliance members only.

i play on ps4, and you can still use the d-pad to cycle through party memebers. i dont use the touchjpad for anything, really, just cycling through things on the HUD.

For frontlines i have on targeting added a L1 + square, cross etc buttons specific targetic, and when i click L1 + square, i get to target ONLY alliance members. you get to choose that in options and your targeting becomes defined as "custom" it REALLY helps for healers to heal alliancem embers. however aoe heals still dont work.
so basically if im in alliance B and im running to C or A, i put that on so with up and down on dpad i can target my party members that are nearby, while with right and left i can scroll through alliance members.
its still more hard than with a mouse, and takes a lot of time to learn, but better than nothing
