    Quick summary

    hardest to play
    1) BLM - every single person posting saying it was easy, also said its like 4-5 buttons set in stone. This admits that they don't use their defensive cool downs, and are not playing the job properly, makes you wonder what else they are missing(hint several damage spells).

    2) Monk - dps job has the most amount of different skills to use, which can make it difficult to memorize and figure out the rotation. You also have to learn how to maximize greased lightning, You also have to constantly change positions at least every 2 attacks to do good damage, which can be challenging with some tanks.

    3) DRG - The rotation is pretty straight forward; you have very few positional and they are at the start, not finishing. AA aren't as large a damage source. the challenge comes from learning when to weave in the off GCD and boost so that they don't interfere with your normal rotations speed.

& SMN - pretty straight forward job and easy; the real difference, and it's very noticeable, is between a player that knows how to control their pet, and one that doesn't. the other is learning how to maximize your dots. has only 3 spells that aren't insta-cast(not counting ruin/ruin2) making it extremely mobile.

    5) BRD- No movement restrictions, can be close or far away, rotations is extremely straight forward. You do have to learn when and how to maximize songs which is a huge use to the party and will help keep you dps high.

A true and good BLM rotation is constantly changing. Playing a blm also requires you to know what to cast and when so that you can guarantee it will go off by the next time you have to move. It also means using your cool downs like Manawall, ward, apocastosis, and Aetheral Manipulation as often as you can during the fight to maximize your damage. the players saying blm is only 4 buttons, or the rotation is set in stone; are not good blms. Smn is pretty easy, however if you don't control your pet and manage your stacks properly you will never be a decent summoner, because garuda will never cotangen all 4 dots while on auto unless your lucky, She will also knockback things she shouldn't and put her self in bad placement.

The BLM rotation IS set in stone as far as the most efficient way for the class to do damage. T3 - F3 - F1 (4x or 5x depending on MP) - B3 - T2 - F3 - repeat. 5 skills rotated at a regular rate. That's it. Far unlike MNK or DRG with their 20+ skill long rotations that also require the player to be moving to the correct spots.

Where BLM gets complicated, and very hard to master, is mitigating the movement penalty we suffer while maintaining the above rotation. Other jobs can switch things up a bit if needed, BLMs cannot. Other skills like our shields, teleport or buffs are not part of the damage rotation, which is what this topic was addressing.

If your using a "set in stone" rotation for bosses as a BLM you will be doing less dps than if you constantly change your rotation slightly based on the current situation.

Very true, but note that my post was regarding the most efficient rotation possible. It is what you WANT to do as much as possible, circumstances however require the player to adopt rotations that while may not equal the Fire spam one in pure numbers, out class it due to circumstances.

The adapting to maintain dps, while moving is the bit that makes BLM one of the tougher DPS classes to do well with, imo.
