I tried making it to one post but it won't let me. Sry u had to read all that post
Can't speak for the caster classes, but I've played the melee classes a bit. Between DRG and BRD, I'd say DRG is more difficult, but no class so far has been overly difficult to master. BRD has a proc-based priority system, but no chains; DRG has a few chains, 2 of which are positional (one flank, the other rear) and one that's any position - so it's not too difficult to stay in an enemy's rear or flank and then just strafe a bit to get all of your chains off.
Not sure why there are so many bad DRGs, but also not sure why BRD has the "faceroll" stigma either. A well-played BRD maximizes their dps by taking advantage of Bloodletter procs in the GCD timeframe, while keeping their 2 DoTs on the enemy, and then fishing for a heavy shot procs.
TLDR: no class is a 10/10 difficulty, but none are a 1/10 either. IMO, the melee difficulty is MNK > DRG > BRD, but that's purely subjective.
I have every dps class leveled and in i90 at least, from my experience it is DRG=MNK>SM>BRD>BLM
I say DRG and MNK are equal because DRG HAVE to get their positionals correct in order to move through their rotation. MNKs have a lot more positional attacks but they can move through theirs freely but will loose a good chunk of DPS. To be great i think monks have it harder because of the timers they have to deal with, but maybe Im biased as I main one. SMN because well dot timers+pet, BRD for the procs+singing balance, and BLM is pretty set in stone and simple its basically 4 buttons.
The reason why there are so many bad Dragoons is because they have the lowest magic defense, having a high physical defense is great and all but its useless since 99% of the games adds and bosses are magic based. Add this with the jump animation lock and the results of certain death increases beyond any other class. In all honesty this game just isn't Dragoon friendly because of this reason.
Hardest rotation? Drg.
Hardest to do the best damage on? Blm.
Quick summary
hardest to play
1) BLM - every single person posting saying it was easy, also said its like 4-5 buttons set in stone. This admits that they don't use their defensive cool downs, and are not playing the job properly, makes you wonder what else they are missing(hint several damage spells).
2) Monk - dps job has the most amount of different skills to use, which can make it difficult to memorize and figure out the rotation. You also have to learn how to maximize greased lightning, You also have to constantly change positions at least every 2 attacks to do good damage, which can be challenging with some tanks.
3) DRG - The rotation is pretty straight forward; you have very few positional and they are at the start, not finishing. AA aren't as large a damage source. the challenge comes from learning when to weave in the off GCD and boost so that they don't interfere with your normal rotations speed.
& SMN - pretty straight forward job and easy; the real difference, and it's very noticeable, is between a player that knows how to control their pet, and one that doesn't. the other is learning how to maximize your dots. has only 3 spells that aren't insta-cast(not counting ruin/ruin2) making it extremely mobile.
5) BRD- No movement restrictions, can be close or far away, rotations is extremely straight forward. You do have to learn when and how to maximize songs which is a huge use to the party and will help keep you dps high.
A true and good BLM rotation is constantly changing. Playing a blm also requires you to know what to cast and when so that you can guarantee it will go off by the next time you have to move. It also means using your cool downs like Manawall, ward, apocastosis, and Aetheral Manipulation as often as you can during the fight to maximize your damage. the players saying blm is only 4 buttons, or the rotation is set in stone; are not good blms. Smn is pretty easy, however if you don't control your pet and manage your stacks properly you will never be a decent summoner, because garuda will never cotangen all 4 dots while on auto unless your lucky, She will also knockback things she shouldn't and put her self in bad placement.
It depends.. I find drg really easy cause I like having a set rotation that you can just dish out and know where you are in it from looking at the buff timers..though I do understand why people think dragoon is hard..the lower magic def making us more vulnerable and dat jump..many a time I've had to say "just jumped ..gonna eat that aoe..I'll heal myself.." thank God for second wind and bloodbath ^.^
This is my personal preference based on what I have leveled up.
1. BLM
2. DRG
3. BRD
It is the way I leveled them, it is the order in which I love them. BRD is my red headed step child ATM, I have, Oddly enough, started liking WHM....

The BLM rotation IS set in stone as far as the most efficient way for the class to do damage. T3 - F3 - F1 (4x or 5x depending on MP) - B3 - T2 - F3 - repeat. 5 skills rotated at a regular rate. That's it. Far unlike MNK or DRG with their 20+ skill long rotations that also require the player to be moving to the correct spots.
Where BLM gets complicated, and very hard to master, is mitigating the movement penalty we suffer while maintaining the above rotation. Other jobs can switch things up a bit if needed, BLMs cannot. Other skills like our shields, teleport or buffs are not part of the damage rotation, which is what this topic was addressing.
