memory is flushed by the host compositor if you alt tab in pure full screen mode.I think I figured out a temporary fix, at least it works for me on Windows 7 OS with AMD graphics card.
If you hit control+alt+delete and go to the task manager, and select FFXIV as if you were going to kill the process, hit end task, but do /NOT/ actually confirm that you are going to kill the task (Just to bring up the window) this seems to clear some memory on the card that was falling behind, and lag INSTANTLY goes away for me after this.
I have also noticed it to go away immediately after opening the task manager sometimes, without fake-killing the process.
I am curious if this works for other people, so if it does for you please let me knowIt has been working great for me, and is really fast to do.
So I just did about 4 hours worth of hunts with a fan blowing on the vent ports of my laptop - not a single slow or crash. It quite possible, atleast in my case, that it was heat related. But one night of testing this doesn't confirm it, could most likely still be a driver side issue. I'll continue to use my fan method to see if this stops all my crashing problems - one thing I do know though is hunts does burst the heat up on my laptop, because suddenly you gotta render tons of character models and effects all at once, my CPU fan kicks up and the hot air that comes out can heat up my entire room alone, lol, so you guys that are having lots of crashing issues, double check your fans and make sure you got good air flow (no dust clogs, etc) you'd surprised how fast those things get dirty, it does sneak up on you.

When traffic in the game is at a peak is when I will normally experience some sort of crash. Tuesday did it for me.
Same Same; after a few hunt teleports or teleporting from / into heavily populated areas (Mor Dhona).
AMD Radeon HD 5900, PCIe 2.0, Mem 1024, Catalyst Version 14.4
Just posting because its been a problem for a long time and still continues to plague me (and by the looks of things many many others).
FIX = The fix I have found that resolved my issue was turning on LOD and LOD Streaming in the graphics section of the game. I use Radeon HD 7970 Ghz ED. I would do hunt and game would crash about every hour. Anytime I was logged in for a long time and I went to teleport the game would crash. I set these setting and have been playing for about a week and my game hasn't crashed once, even after 8+ hours of hardcore hunts.
Source - http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...leakcrash_fix/ (The link says to turn on LOD Streaming but I turned that on without turning on LOD and it didn't fix it. It wasn't until I turned on both LOD and LOD Streaming that it fixed my issue.)
Edit: I am using beta drivers 14.7 don't know if that changed anything but I installed these and it didn't help and then I found fix and changed the graphics options.

That is not a fix, its a workaround, and its been posted multiple times already.
The downside is just about everything has quality degrading with both checked.
Thanks for trying to help though.
Issue persists with AMD 14.8 drivers
I returned at the end of the one-year anniversary with a new computer build featuring an R9 290 (previously I was using a GTX 670). Surely enough, this annoying issue presented itself and I quickly found the "solution" in this thread. I am happy to report I haven't had any client crashes since disabling LOD streaming for a couple of weeks now, but I really hope Square Enix or ATI truly fix this issue so we can enjoy the game at full quality.

Hi, my name is Sunie and I'm suffering from this error. (might as well turn this into a self-help group right about now, right?! :P)
But yeah, chipping in. AMD 7870, started around 2.3 and crash in Camp Dragonhead and Mor Dhona near the Coerthas/Mor Dhona zone line. Teleporting guarantees a crash after a bit of play time.
I've applied the work around so I hope I'm safe for now, but this is really annoying. I'll like the OP as Critux suggests, as well.
