An upcoming patch will solve this, its supposed to be fixed before 2.38 hits.
There was a rumor going around that the latest beta drivers from AMD fixed this issue. I can confirm it HAS NOT fixed the problem. Multiple people I know are still getting Unexpected error crashes in crowded areas while using AMD cards. It's unbelievable that SE has STILL not given us any sort of official response. Nor has AMD.

This bug is starting to piss me off to no end. Before 2.3 I had no issues whatsoever with FFXIV but ever since 2.3 Teleport seems to have some really messed up bug that makes teleporting or watching other people teleport (be it teleporting away, or loading in by aetherytes) that drops my FPS down to less than 1 until people either stop loading in or the game crashes with a popup saying "An unexpected error occured.".
This makes showing up for S rank hunts right now a huge gamble, either it doesn't occur and there's no issue, or I get stuck having to restart the client and by the time I'm back in the mark is already dead. But this isn't even an issue only relevant to hunts, it's just where it is the most annoying for it to happen.
I've seen threads about Teleport causing this since September LAST YEAR and they are either ignored or closed as resolved because the topic creator hasn't pushed the issue further. Teleport seriously needs to be looked into, or if it's not Teleport itself, the effects it causes when teleporting away/arriving because it is ALWAYS ONLY AROUND TELEPORT this happens!
Sadly, this has started happening to me. I have never had any issues with my Radeon since the game came out. I think this started happening with the last patch 2.35. I went to one A rank hunt and my FPS would drop and then the game would crash. When I teleport, everyone once in awhile my fps would drop and then I would be stuck on a loading screen. I would teleport sometimes and the game would crash to desktop.
Using i7 2700k
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Radeon R9 290x (Gigabyte Windforce)

And the theme continues to be - AMD Cards.
I sent an e-mail and hopefully they will give me an update regarding the issue.
"thanks for your email and for drawing our attention to this. Ritche on cc runs our Worldwide Developer Relations and Nic runs technology support. Let me speak to them and give you an update. This is an important and popular game so sincerely, thanks"

Did you link them for the forum thread?
I did link them this thread. I got an e-mail response from their community manager saying that they know of the issue and are working on it. I gave them my dxdiag info and a lot of hardware info and game settings.

Great, now if only SE could at least acknowledge it. All they have to do is one post saying "We're aware of the issue and are investigating it." is all we need
