I play the game on a laptop plugged into a TV. It works great, unless I do anything with the TV like turn it off or change its input for a moment. If I have the game running, even minimised where it's not making any noise, and then go to look at a TV channel or my PS3 for a moment, when I return to my game I am unable to bring back its audio.

Now, I'm fully aware that SE has previously commented on this and said that it's a Microsoft/Windows problem that they can't do anything about.

That doesn't gel with my own experiences however.

I'm a multitasker who rarely closes things. Instead I just pause them and minimise them. That includes my browser open at all times and frequently media players and other games. Their audio is never broken the way FFXIV audio breaks. I bring them back up and get them playing again and they're just fine.

This leads me to think that it's only an FFXIV issue.

I know there's a lot of techno wizzes in this community so I'm hoping one or more of you may have come up with some sort of workaround for this issue. If you have, please share.

Hardware/software wise, I'm using a Gigabyte gamers laptop with Win 8.1.

Other programs that do not lose audio are Media Player Classic, Firefox, Chrome, mIRC (usually silent but makes sounds on certain events like new messages or nick highlight, etc) and various games from various sources including Steam and GoG. Just about everything I use regularly actually, I just can't think of much more off the top of my head.
