So Shiva will likely be the last traditional primal, no? *Spoilers*

I say this because the story this patch makes it pretty clear that the Ascians are manipulating Coerthas to be their latest piece in the "Trick people into summoning a primal" schemes like they tried in Little Ala Mhigo early in the story. My guess is that the more primals that are defeated the more Aether moves to Zodiark and away from Hydaelen, increasing their strength. The Warrior of Light is like a light casting a shadow, the stronger he/she gets the stronger the Ascians grow in turn from his or her efforts.

Also if you look at the traditional spells we have which are drawn from Aether -

    Fluid Aura - Leviathan
    Thunder - Ramuh
    Aero - Garuda
    Stone - Titan
    Fire - Ifrit
    Blizzard - Shiva

This isn't to say they can't add more Summons in the form of primals, but I doubt they will be presented as they have been in the past (Ie they will either be Dungeon bosses ala Diabolos or Siren) OR they can use the lore to explain the existence of things such as Alexander (Would easily be explained as another Allagan collosi/weapon akin to Ultima or Omega). Thoughts?

Yoshi P mentioned that they were done with primals that took on the villain role. The new ones coming up have their own goals. Reference: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...d-future-plans I would love to see an Alexander though!

If I recall correctly Yoshida said they will end primals before the expansion, and it's very likely that 2.4 will be the last update before expansion in... 6-8? months (2.3 lasting 3-4 months, 2.4 also lasting 3-4 months) so yeah I think Shiva will be the last for now.

There is still the matter of elder primals. Given Ascian names and the whole zodiac theme going on, along with Belias being an elder primal, I wouldn't be surprised to see 11 more in the same roster.

I agree with Lyrinn. Those Ascian names are *not* random. They are the Scions of Light (itself being a reference being opposed to the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, which I don't think I need to tell you the implications of that) from Ivalice and we're still missing a few.

The question is will they continue with this trend, or are they merely just fan-service references? Well so far we have:

Lahabrea is the Scion of Light, opposed to the Scion of Darkness, Mateus (Pisces)
    Igeyorhm opposes Shemhazai (Sagittarius)
    Nabriales opposes Cúchulainn (Scorpio)
    Emmerololth opposes Famfrit (Aquarius)

Then we have Altema (Virgo), the leader of the Lucavi and Elidibus (Ophiuchus), a legendary wizard of the Fifty Years War.

    We are missing:

Loghrif opposes Belias (Aries) *may have been Belial, but that remains to be seen
    Deudalephon opposes Adrammalech (Capricorn)
    Emet-Selch opposes Zalera (Gemini)
    Fandaniel opposes Hashmal (Leo)
    Pashtarot opposes Zeromus (Cancer)
    Halmarut opposes Exodus (Libra)
Mitron the Chastiser opposes Chaos (Taurus)

Well we have The Twelve which are all Primals that we know about, as well we have Zodiarc which is a Primal, there's Fenrir which we know has art (as well as Typhoon though they could both take the role of dungeon bosses much in the same way that Diablos and Siren did).

Alexander would be extremely interesting and I would like to see it have something to do with the Ishgardians... I've pitched it before, but perhaps they might feel threatened by the outside world and try to summon him. The price of course could be their kingdom itself (perhaps a mad king or something).

On top of this we also know that Belias is there as well which hints that some of the summons from FF12 will be showing up. We have not seen some of the staples from the later of the series such as Phoenix yet though and have not had any confirmation of them. To be fair, everything past Phoenix is fairly specific to a certain game (FFX has a lot of unique ones, same with some of the older games and remakes) so we may not see any of them for a little while.

I would personally like to see something done with The Twelve though as Louisoux himself said that they were nothing more than Primals that Eorzeans prayed too :/
