...and it would at least give some lasting meaning to that R30 NM gear.

I'm behind a level sync system. It can lock out or just make higher level abilities on your class less powerful.
It's really irritating when I'm trying to do Toto-rak "Right" with a class in the right range and 4 people, and one of them decides to change to a rank 50 and blast through. Just had this happen to me and it was totally lame. The SECOND I started to talk strategy, one of the other plays essentially said Screw this, went 50 Gladiator, and took off through. Kinda made me mad.
It's completely ridiculous.
One of the things they definitely did right in FFXI was to have the whole content spread out between different leves.
So you never felt too "gimped" to do, e.g., the CoP missions because you were downscaled to LV 30 anyway.
What we have right now is that everyone will try to rush to LV 50 as fast as possible, and then
LOLblast through the lower level content.
Lame.
Agreed, rush rush rush. No thanks. It's completely ridiculous.

I'm of the opinion that the rank of people entering a dungeon should be restricted to a certain range. In the case of toto, the R25 dungeon, The limit should be R30. And for the R45 dungeon the limit should be R50 (which it technically is already, but should be put into place for when the max rank is changed). People over the respective limit will have their rank reduced to 30, but keep all available actions (so the devs don't need to screw with that). This should be fairly easy to implement, since only the character rank in the dungeon will be changed, and would be similar to simply switching to another R30 or R50 class.
I totally agree, totorak is just a big culling rush all you really need to do is memorize where the mobs are and where you need to go. The xp though shouldnt be so good that level syncing toto-rak would be equal to leveling else where though. I kind of think that seeing as gear is part of the main drive to do them that the sp gain should be like 50 sp a mob? Enough that going into it will let you come out with a decent amount but not enough that it defeats the purpose of all other kinds of leveling.
