ERP = Erotic Role Play

If anyone on Hyperion ever opens one, send me a message.

Can someone clarify for me how exactly a role-playing guild/player differs from the normal players (new to MMORPG's).

Basically they just like to act like how their character would presumably act to events while you're playing the game - this can be as simple as when chatting to others in chat channels, not speaking like a player playing a game, but as how an adventurer in-universe would be responding to things, or it can be as elaborate as effectively writing and acting out a story as you go along, executing it in lore-based dialogue and emotes.
There's no hard or fast rule as to how to role-play, it basically just comes down to how comfortable the player is with what they do (I prefer to be more casual in role-playing - I normally stick to things like emotes or keeping within character in linkshell chat where possible). Role-players often will also develop and map out their character's biography and past history in detail, usually keeping well within the game's established lore (or 'canon') to make it extra believable. The Lore section of this forum is particularly helpful for this if you're interested in role-playing yourself in the game, but ultimately, it's up to you whether you choose to do so or not. It's just another way of having fun in the game besides crafting, gathering or killing things.![]()

In a brief summation:
A regular player uses a character and plays within the game world.
A roleplayer becomes the character and lives in the game world.
Thank you all for the information!
