    Flag Physics! :D

My only suggestion right now would be to the flags you've added to the cities.

They look eerily odd hanging without any movement,
especially at the heights of Limsa, and the wind-swept streets of Ul'dah

A small amount of waver physics every now and again wouldn't be bad.
Perhaps have the physics work on a certain basis so that it doesn't look fake.

I.e all flags move one after the other, like wind would be affecting them, and
have a variety of physic animations that the system could choose from.

    Much Thanks!

Edit: Love the Flag Detail and Art btw! <3

There was a dev post that said that the reason they're not implementing capes at this time is because of the burden of cloth animations. I imagine it's the same with flag physics.

there quite right too, cloth animation is a complete and utter resource hog...some games cant even get one characters cloths to move fluidly without lag...multiply that by 2500 and your going to have issues.

Given the city's don't have weather in the same way, surly just a few simple animation loops would be an effective small fix that wouldn't massively tax peoples systems.

Add an option for it in the configuration, turn it off if your computer can't handle it / you don't want it. Problem solved.

As cool as it would be to apply physics on the flags, I think the more reasonable alternative would be static animations.

never said you couldn't use static animation(the camp fire being a wonderful example of this)...however the OP never specified that. he wanted see physics on the flags something that would tax any CPU.

Static Animations work fine. It just didn't occur to me when I wrote this at 2:35am
I didn't mean physics as such; just general movement.

Sorry for using the wrong term :3

I'm for static animations on flags. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a small amount of movement would make them less distractingly static.

I'm also for a toggled cape implementation, which is in almost all MMOs with capes like Guild Wars(which had real cape physics despite coming out only shortly after FFXI, but like many games you can toggle them). That's a topic for another thread but since it was mentioned I thought I'd bring it up.

Agreed, it needs it's own tread, but i think more a few different Knitgs Tunic would fit better with the style of the game.
Given most weapons are on players backs, and you'll get the old cape though weapon issue.
