    Idea for improving party/duty finder

After a long day of trying to clear prior content it's obvious that players are simply gearing a class with the abundant myth tombs and then queing for fights without practical knowledge.

being addressed by adding the echo boost and adding gear even still ff14 requires a level of skill and steep learning curve per group.

I think it would behove all players by
(a couple of months prior to new content)

Adding a simulation of the mechanics expected of your class for the extreme fights. Players MUST complete the simulation WEEKLY to unlock the fights for duty finder and party finder.
this will re-teach classes people with to pick back up, and create overall smoother runs/less headache for everyone involved.
+after a break or leveling other classes when new content comes out not everyone wishes to re-do and help others clear, for HOURS.

basically this all comes down to ... "give a man a fish feed him for a day, teach a man to fish feed him for life"

I'm all for something like that

But weekly would just be a nuisance. Perhaps once on each class, but still... Every new fight they add requiring the player to do a simulation. Kind of spoils the fun for those that want to go into a new day 1 fight blind. Not to mention, you'll just drive away new players. "Hey, want your relic, well the stuff to do it is arbitrary now but...you need to complete these 5 simulations, then actually do the fight" Imagine people trying to catch up? x-x It'd take them forever to get started with actual stuff.

Perhaps an NPC can tutor the player and give a rundown of their moves, say, 2 weeks after the fight is out, or when it is put into the Roulette. Iunno, though

    Yeah.. Weekly's a bit much.
I wouldn't mind having to do a simulation once, but speaking as a new player I think it'd put me off doing those dungeons all together if I had to do a simulation weekly.
It's understandable that people need practice but when they're experienced enough to do it well it'll just become bothersome to do it weekly when you don't need it.

I guess if there was some sort of rating system on how well you performed, and if you scored XX or above you don't need to repeat...

I think a 30 day cooldown based on x hours played on that class during the 30 day period would suffice.

For example system records you play 40% of your time on WHM, then 30% of your time on SCH, and other classes are assorted. WHM and SCH you wouldn't need to "pass" because based on playtime you should already be familiar with the those classes. But then say you're gonna queue up as a DRG but only registered 1% of time for the last 30 day period. Chances are you might remember how to effectively play the class. So then a refresher guildhest going over the basics of the class and following combos would be necessary to complete before being able to use it in DR. Some variant of this idea I think would be quite good in terms of just helping train players on the mechanics of the game.

As long as it's a nice and easily accessible solo-instance.

Pop open DF > Go to the dungeon you want to learn > Click on the boss > Que for Boss > Fight boss with perfected AI team so you can witness the fight in its entirety > get a little bit of gold and tomes for your trouble (or not, because I could see bots running this).

If it was once per class would be fine if timed right...if I clear the mechanics once take a break for a couple of months...new content and class changes can really alter how a class performs.

prior to new content~ clarify add a sim for leve EX before Ramah goes live ) thus letting those who didn't care to clear the previous content a chance at clearing and moving on to the new content, but by earning it not just (o well lets die for echo boost till 20%) and not worry about learning a fight....and people still cant clear that sometimes. All comes to knowing how to play...I really think a solo simulation will help those who need practice get it, without having to deal with rage quits/disconnects and the like.

    an example.
Your a tank... leve extreme has been out for months, however you have just gotten to it... so you look up the fight on youtube for the tank perspective..get a feel for phase changes and placement...join duty finder for that fight...wait around will a pop....get into a group.... can be any group under the sun.... because you don't have experience people will drop group immediately..if not after at BEST a couple of trys....group falls apart you go again...and again...and again..eventually getting experience, now you have to wait for a group at the same level to clear... unknown wait time....

only issue there would be people who cant pass the simulation or just sit in game four a couple hours before system kick.

and if it was just a class only based guildheist then you still have the same issue, of people to placement to movement to rotation within a specific environment...that exp would only be gained by continuous wipes...while if there was a way to practice these mechanics yourself...you will be a better player...if everyone does it...you would think everyone would be better...if only for the fight you que for...till the next fight.

+++ all of this is in hopes of saying....ok I've practiced they have practiced...the run is suppose to take 20mins to clear...ill allocate 40 mins before I have to do something outside of game.

more people are willing to help out and fill slots if its just a run...no one wants to sit and die all day long.
