In WoW PvP in order to build up your PvP rank you have to farm 'Honor' which is basically the same thing as wolf marks. During PvP you could get honor from killing other players primarily, and you would get more honor from killing players with higher PvP ranks than you. You would also get a small bit of honor from assisting with kills. Killing blows was the primary source of farming honor and getting the win in any PvP match was just a bonus. I think you would also get an individual bonus as well based on your score in the match which was calculated based on things like outpost captures, kills, deaths, damage dealt, healing dealt, etc.

Basically the idea is that players who contributed more, got more out of a match. In current frontlines, your skill in PvP doesn't matter, only the amount of games you play. The amount of wolf marks you get at the moment is basically just a luck of the draw of who gets in your game, and your individual skill doesn't matter at all. In my opinion, individual skill should be rewarded.
