Start with the High Level dungeons and low level Roulette since you'll be new to level 50. You can obtain up to i70 gear in those (level 50 dungeons) and work your way to i80/90 in the process because you will gain Myth tome just by doing the dungeons. You'll also gain Soldiery tomes as well, albeit at a slower rate than someone who does all of their duty roulettes every day, but that's what it is. If you join the Ex roulette (that is, if you even have it unlocked by some miracle) you'll just be slowing the whole run down and causing everyone else in the party to realize you can't do as much as they can and hence have to hold back or cover for your lack of aggro holding, healing or dps. You might be able to get away with being carried in the Trial roulette if you've managed to finish the current story mode. But quite frankly the only thing a fresh 50 is fit to even que for is High Level Roulette or Main Scenario Roulette. Unless you have a firm undersanding of dodging mechanics you will just be holding your party back. Oh, you'll likely still pass your instances and gain your myth, sure, but the other party member's in your party won't be giving you a commendation for making their dungeon run/primal fight more difficult.

I had a Garuda HM this morning with a dps and a tank (he was the offtank) in particular who both claimed that the fight was super easy and apparently this was suppose to excuse them from not knowing the basics of the fight. They both ran into the center of the arena when Garuda did her moves that you can easily avoid by standing behind a pillar and did not, throughout the entirety of the fight seem to know what they were suppose to do, in relation to positioning or anything for that matter. Yet, when I crudely questioned their lack of intelligence they repsonded by claiming I was the one being carried by the whole party. We ended up wiping the first time before beating her the second go. The first time I was the second one to die before the wipe, the second time one of the two in question only lived because I healed them (I was on my Whm for this).

Just because a fight might be considered "easy" to you, does not excuse you from being completely lazy in not following simple mechanics. The more a healer has to heal you as a dps the less we can focus on the tank that are really getting hammered, or the legit new players that are learning and will make mistakes because they just don't know yet. When you have done this before you should know the fight, or else don't que up for it if you are going to be a pain in the rear end. I don't need that crap, I don't need that stress as a healer who is actually doing his job right, and I sure as hell don't need your crap. Specially when I know what the hell I am doing and by your actions, you don't have a clue.

I highly recommend checking out the dungeon guides on MTQcapture's youtube channel. They're clear, concise and to the point and helps dispel any anxiety with unfamiliar encounters.

When I first hit level 50, I didn't have many sources of myth tomes. I slacked on my beast dalies, which could have given me a head start while also giving me free daily exp. Run story roulette and low level roulette for the next few days for tomes. Once you increase in ilevel, your sources for myth and sol becomes more plentiful.

Here is a guide for content once you hit level 50. It's updated for 2.2 which will give you a good bit of stuff to do.

As OMG suggested, here is the youtube page for MTQcapture. She makes phenomenal guides for dungeons and raids that are concise and give you a great idea of what to expect once you start doing level 50 content.

It's okay to be new to stuff, just let your group know and most of the time someone will bring you up to speed. It's even better to do your due diligence and look up the content beforehand so you aren't confused or taken completely by surprise.
I took a six month break at level 42,only returning two weeks before 2.3, and using those two links have an ilvl 90 Dragoon now. All of the content was completed through duty finder. I wish you the best!

If you are still intimidated, Free Companies are always the way to go. Find one that's into helping new players. Or even an LS that doesn't mind learning.
