Returning and something to ask...

After quite a while being off the game, I'm hoping to make a return to the game sometime soon.

However, there is something I'd like to know - Is it important to have the patches downloaded and will it effect me, as my characters primary level is 27? Also, would all patches need to be downloaded? I've missed all of them since the ps4 release.

The launcher will automatically download all patches as soon as you log in, before starting the game. So running it without the latest version isn't even possible. If your connection tends to be slow, I'd recommend logging in right before going to bed or going to work, so it can download while you're away and you don't get frustrated waiting for a long download when you want to be playing. (I try to do that whenever a big patch comes out.)

Also, I saw there are new classes added, is that true (I think one was Rogue)? How would they be obtained in the game?

the rogue will be released in the next patch it is not you yet

Ok, I might find out about this, I'm pretty sure it was Rogue and something else, it was in a patch trailer a while ago.

that would be the rouge and the Ninja!!! the rouge is going to be the class to start with and you can then get the Ninja Job. i think that patch will be dropping around Oct. or Nov. of this year.

I kind of hope you're right, because I think Ul'dah seems like the best fit. But currently, Ul'dah and Gridania both have two DoW and one DoM class guild, while Limsa Lominsa has just one of each, so they might stick Rogue into Limsa to balance that out. If they're trying to keep the class guilds balanced between the city-states, then our rogue class may end up with a bit of a pirate theme to it.
