Taregtting system needs a re-work for frontlines

You can argue that the targetting system works for PVE.. if you get used to adjusting your camera to block out the unessacry enemies.. but this does not work in front-lines at all. You need a full field of vision and going tunnel vision and gimping yourself in this manner is a really bad idea. Trying to pick out a key target quickly in a mob of 20 players is extremely frustrating. FF 14's tab-targeting system just isn't intuitive in a active pvp setting with congested battle zones. Target nearest enemy doesn't work.

The targeting system really needs some re-working for frontlines. It's not unplayable, it's just needlessly frustrating/difficult. A fluid targeting system would make frontlines that much more enjoyable.

Use your mouse to click on them, and you have zero issues >.>

Really, the only problem i have with it are ballance issues. The team with the most healers wins. Always. "5 DPS and 3 healers" always trashes "6 DPS and 2 healers", no exceptions :/

bro that's the problem. using your mouse to click does not always target the player, especially if they are moving whether friendly or enemy targets. i feel full well what the OP is talking about and i think it has alot to do with the game location engine being poor. Yoshi has mentioned it before and said they were working on it or it was fixed but so far i see no evidence of that. this targeting problem whether using mouse or tab targeting is still alive and well. it's not just targeting this bad location system affects. it also affects ya know when you run out of aoe's but you still get hit even when you're 20 yalms away from it but since you were the when the system finally caught up with what is going on, you still get hit anyway. same with the mouse targeting. it doesn't target the player because the game doesn't even know the player is located where you're clicking to yet and lots of times i can't even target them until the player actually stops moving. i have played bgs across many MMOs for years and i have never had this problem. it only exists in FFXIV.

Agreed. In PvP you really don't have the luxury of time to be adjusting your camera and all that jazz to work around the faults in the tab targeting/location system. Picking out a healer in a mob of 20 players takes a lot of misclicks before you find the right person (or very slow, careful clicking). And having some guy hopping around right in front of you, killing you, while tab target selects the guy a million miles away is so counter intuitive and frustrating.

Having to click on things manually significantly slows you down. This is why there are hotkeys, and this is why hotkeys are effective. Copy/paste with ctrl+c/ctrl+v is faster than with the mouse, and the same applies here.
