yes we know you can skip the CS. Just we tend not to cause we want to be more or less same timing when it starts. The tank first method is the one that the JP tend to use alot.

-If you want to punch the living crap out of him DO NOT DO IT FROM BEHIND unless you wanna get buttstomped to death, position yourself on THE SIDES of teh ogre to avoid him using his buttstomp.
I was Party Leader with Irana last night on our Darkholds runs, she is right. Her tip works very, very well. 10-1 the ogre WILL fire spit "someone" at the start and its an aoe attack that does 1000+ dmg to a single member, which links to whoever is standing next to them. Mages will then usually by instinct cast a Curaga or some high end Cure to recover the party, getting everyone off to a bad start.

With her tip, she means that the tank(s) will stand in the portal and wait for the CS to trigger, mages and DD will find a safe spot outside of the portal that is away from the tank (main target) and after the cutscene all mages and DD should be where they left off without having to run from the tank. Its a good little tip in case the ogre pulls a fast one and fire spits everyone.

I thought this mantra died out when people realized you didn't need smn, smn, smn, blm, blm, pld to win CoP BCNMs?
I doubt he ever realized that.
Nope. Most people are aware that you can do things with a suboptimal group if you really want. People that like winning don't handicap themselves. It is what it is.

Also, I still have yet to see Jenn in game ever. Do you even play? On Rab I mean.

nice job. Seems like a lot of people are starting to get the hang of these new mechanics we have, slowly but surely more linkshells are taking down the Ogre.

I don't even think the fight is too difficult. Just need all 8 members to perform well and together in unison. It can be unforgiving if just one person slips up. Its understandably tough for some people when considering the game has basically trained us over the last 7 months or so in 'easy mode'. Things are a lot different now

And as lots here have said, I think everyone knows it can be done just fine without multiple ranged attackers. Chances are though, its a bit easier with them. Definitely doesn't mean its impossible without them though. I have done it on ARC, PUG, and LNC so far. Trying to get my MRD up so I can give it a go on that as well.

Yea I know, but I still refuse to edit it lol.

I still prefer GLD = Gladiator and GSM = Goldsmith.

And FYI, that's just SE's terminology. Did you know that Pugilist is actually PGL and not PUG? But of course no one ever brings that up

But it's odd how, if you notice on the forums currently, there are over 9000 post correcting the localization team of their spelling and terminologies. I did know about the PGL abbreviation and correct people all the time in-game as well. I don't mind how and what people choose to think, but I ask and will continue to enforce proper grammar set in place.

Why is it FFXI hasn't had this issue? Illiterate WoW player consuming the FFXIV market?

I'm confused, are you calling me an illiterate WoW player? I couldn't play that garbage for more than 10 minutes. I'm a veteran FFXI player if you were wondering, 5 years of my life spent playing that game.

It just seems more natural to say GLD(GLA) GSM(GLD) PUG(PGL) LTH(TAN) and so on.

FFXI never had the problem because the abbreviations were everywhere in the game; <job>, linkshell windows, /sea windows, party windows, etc.

Don't see why this is such a big issue to you anyways, Raikki was just picking on me

Ogre is known to have a frontal and reverse cone attack. Stand to its side. Ogre has an AoE that takes 5 whole seconds to charge. Walk away.

I feel like im taking crazy pills each time I see an idiotic melee die in this fight.

We generally do the Ogre fight with zero Conjurers. Last two runs were:

THM THM THM THM GLA MAR ARC ARC

THM THM THM GLA GLA MAR LNC ARC
