    [controller player] how do I setup PVP without PVE hotbars causing unnecessary cyclin

    I'm on ps3 and I want to do frontlines, but I stopped doing PVP after I tried wolves den before because I had to swap out my PVE skills for PVP, then back again to do PVE. Sure I could of put PVP setup in hotbars 3 and 4, but then that would be an extra one or two hotbars to cycle through causing a big delay. I like to keep all combat skills within 2 hotbars so I only need to press R1 once to switch between them.

    How do I set it up where during PVP it will only use hotbars 3 and 4, then I can go back to using 1 and 2 for PVE? I wish there was a way to save 2 different hotbar setups for the same class.

    You need more than 2 hotbars to have PvP skills set up with PvE skills? Totally unnecessary. PvE skills alone won't take up both hotbars.

    I just have my PvP skills set on hotbar 2 on the left side, while my PvE skills are filling hotbar 1 and the right side of hotbar 2. There's really nothing more needed than that on console.

    What you can do, which might be too much of a pain, is just go into your settings and change which hot bars are active when you go into pvp, that way pvp and pve are separate and there's no need to constantly keep switching attacks around. When you go back to pve just go back into settings and switch off pvp bars and turn pve bars back on. A few buttons rather than a big mess or too many hot bars.

    Some jobs require more space. I'm a summoner. Out of every job in the game summoners require the most hotbar space due to pet commands plus our own abilities, and this is with a few macros to save space.

    Thanks, I had already figured out a solution earlier. Hotbar 1 and 2 are active, while I have pvp stuff in 3. I just hold R1 and choose 3 for pvp, then when done with PVP I press R1 and it goes back to only cycling between 1 and 2. But I discovered I'm going to need 2 sets for my PVP setup, which means 3 and 4, so I'll have to do exactly as you just mentioned, which is no problem really.

    If you're really adventurous you could try making a pvp and pve macro skill swap using the "/chotbar action" commands. Basically the command will replace the designated slot with whatever skill you tell it (ex. '/chotbar action "Ruin" 1 RA4' will place ruin in R-trigger X on your controller). Using that you could move skills around and slot in Pvp skills at the touch of a button and when you're finished click the pve macro to remove them and put your pve skills back to where they were. Just keep in mind though that macro's themselves can't be moved around unfortunately.

    Took me a while to find this. I remembered the issue with pet hotbars/macros so on and so forth and how they managed it.

    -the setup

    1a. go to character settings > crossbar and enable extended crossbars ( i have L2->R2 = left crossbar #3 and R2 ->L2 = right crossbar #3 )
    1b. on crossbar setting enable custumization (weapon drawn and sheath) and enable only the bars with NON PET ACTIONS (ie ruin bane...) i have #1 and #2 only, this will hide the rest of the bars so you can quick toggle using R1 between 2 sets of crossbars only.

    -The Bars

    2a. SET crossbar 6 left(L2) with summon (Garuda) abilities lvl.1 to lvl.40 and crossbar 6 right (R2) with all pet commands, ie. stay follow obey sic..ect, all BUT away ( explained later why not away) this will leave you with 1 empty slot we will reserve for a macro .

    2b. repeat step 1 with summon II (titan) abilities and petcommands this time on crossbar 7.

    2c. repeat step 1 with summon III (ifrit) abilities and pet command this time on crossbar 8.

    -The macros

    3a. Egi Away macro :
    /pac "Away" <me>
    /chotbar remove 3 all
    ^this macro dismisses your egi and clears all abilities from crossbar 3 ( for thoes with OCD that want stuff done right )
    3b. place the away macro on the empty slots we left on crossbars 6,7,8.

    3c. Garuda egi macro;
    /ac "Summon" <me>
    /chotbar copy SMN 6 SMN 3
    ^this will summon Garuda and put all abilities from crossbar 6 into crossbar 3

    3d. Titan egi macro;
    /ac "Summon II" <me>
    /chotbar copy SMN 7 SMN 3
    ^this will summon Titan and put all abilities from crossbar 7 into crossbar 3

    3e. Ifrit egi macro;
    /ac "Summon III" <me>
    /chotbar copy SMN 8 SMN 3
    ^this will summon Ifrit and put all abilities from crossbar 8 into crossbar 3

    3f. put your summoning macros on crossbar 1 or 2.

    extras
    ps4 has very limited macro icons on the macro tab, but you can use the command /micon "action name" to set a macro icon with one of the action icons on your action list. so /micon "Summon" will set the icon to the little blue carbuncle and /micon "summon II" will set the yellow carbuncle icon. now if you are like me and think hey why have a carbuncle for titan or garuda and a ifrit for ifrit.. this is not consistent AHHHH im freaking out!.. i recommend using the element crystal icons provided on the macro editor. green for garuda, yellow for titan and red for ifrit. makes sense lore wise too, since you need crystals to summon the primals .

    i hope this helps you all smn out there. and hopefully SE can see the struggle is real and simplify all this madness with the simple addition of 1 option on a drop down menu.

    What you can also try if you do PvP as job:

    First copy your PvE bars from your job to the class

    example:
    /crosshotbar copy [job name] 1 [class name] 1
    /crosshotbar copy [job name] 2 [class name] 2
    This you can just write in the chat because you need to do it only once

    Then you set up your PvP bar on the job and copy it also to a empty bar of the class
    /crosshotbar copy [job name] 1 [class name] 3
    /crosshotbar copy [job name] 2 [class name] 4

    Then you write the 2 macros:

    name: PvE Bar
    /crosshotbar copy [class name] 1 [job name] 1
    /crosshotbar copy [class name] 2 [job name] 2

    name: PvP Bar
    /crosshotbar copy [class name] 3 [job name] 1
    /crosshotbar copy [class name] 4 [job name] 2

    I totally get where you're going with this one, it hadn't occurred to be to do it this way but seems pretty clever and I'm going to try it. I've tried to maximize how efficient my crossbar setup is for different classes and this seems like the easiest way to keep my regular crossbar intact for when not in Frontlines, and have a PVP version existing somewhere that most importantly isn't one of the shared crossbars I use for other things. So since my main is the Bard job and I don't use the Archer class, I'd use ARC as a holding spot for both my regular and PVP crossbars (so 4 crossbars needed on ARC class if I use have 2 customizable ones on BRD). As long as 4 crossbar sets are customizable and not shared, I can store 2 regular and 2 PVP-specific crossbars to swap in and out.

    For the new PVP skills that are Instant versions similar to skills I already have (like the TP restore one vs Invigorate) I'm also going to macro them together so 1 button will use PVP version unless on long cooldown, in which case it uses the regular skill. That way it's more intuitive and like I'm used to.

    Update- I tried what Felis suggested and this seems to me like the ideal solution- moving the crossbars from your Job to your Class and then having a PVP macro that copies the PVP crossbars from Class to Job, and a Non-PVP macro to copy your regular crossbars back from Class to Job afterwards. To save room I'll probably add it to the button that changes gear sets so when I change to my main Bard gear set it does the copy- which just means if I ever make future changes I want to be permanent to my Bard crossbar I remember to copy them to Archer.

    Also confirmed that even though the Archer can't use them, the Bard Job actions copied back to the Archer crossbar (they just weren't usable) and restored back to the Bard crossbar like I wanted. Also the macros I have on the crossbar moved back and forth as well under this approach. So overall this is a simpler way of doing it- moving the entire crossbar with a macro vs. rebuilding it based on individual actions.

    You can also use the bars from your crafting and gathering classes. (11 non combat classes to store all your hotbars )

    You don't have to do anything like that if you don't want to. You can make a macro to automatically switch what action is in what action slot.

    For example:

    /crosshotbar action "Chaos Thrust" 1 16

    The first number is the crosshotbar and the second number is the slot. You then just have to create two macros to cycle between pvp and pve actions.

    /crosshotbar action "Purify" 1 16 would change the 16th slot of the first bar to Purify while the first macro line would change it to Chaos Thrust.
