No i dont use motion joy. I have xpadder but thats not even switched on or anything. I just logged out of FF14 after playing for the past few hours and it crashed again. Theres no around this..unless i delete the cfg files every time i want to log in and playDo you use MotionJoy? I was having this issue. Then I discovered that if launched the "DS3tool" application at anytime before the I launched the game, it wouldn't launch, either simply closing the Window upon start-up, or giving me a "FFXIV Stopped Working" message. After the game has launched, I was able to launch MotionJoy and enable my Dualshock 3 to work as a Playstation 2 controller. This means that I must restart the computer every time I want to launch the game a second time though.
I'm not really 100% sure if it's MotionJoy, but it's definitely an application or service that must be started before the game is launched that's causing the problem. And the problem did not exist before the 2.3 patch. I did *nothing* with the computer (no restarting, no logging out, not even putting the computer to sleep) between the time I used the game before the patch, and after I installed the patch.
I don't even know what MotionJoy is XD
I had the same "Stopped working" error after the patch. Similar to the posters, I pretty much tried everything to debug, including going so far as upgrading from Win7 to Win81, but none of that fixed the issue.
I did stumble upon a fix the worked for me to let FFXIV to get past the error-- having Diablo3 running when starting FFXIV. If I start D3 then alt-tab and launch FFXIV it seems to load fine. If D3 is not running it will crash. I suspect you can close D3 once you make it past the login screen to save resources. Another application that initializes the 3D video card before launching FFXIV might work too. I am using a ATI Radeon HD 6950.
I think i have found a temp fix for now. May or may not work but so far i have managed to log in and out a few times without it crashing.
so, the short cut to the FF14 Launcher, right click properties on that and change the compatibility mode, i just set it up win xp sp3 and click run as admin.
Do that for the short cut launcher and also the game exe itself (ffxiv.exe). seems to work for me for now atleast anyway.
Still a joke that its a bug of some sort, shouldn't have to do this when it was working fine before v2.3
never mind...still not working. works fine if you have default settings. soon as you change them and save them, it crashes on login/start up then

I tried several things to fix it including some from this thread but the game will just crash after a couple minutes of being launched, no matter what I do
I also temporary fixed this problem by using the method as similar as yours. For my case, I need to make sure my laptop is offline when I turn on my laptop, need windows media players/youtube running (and must have sounds come out from you laptop/headphone LOL!) while starting FFXIV. If I don't do these before starting FFXIV, the game client sure will crash and need to restart my laptop to do these processes all over again!I had the same "Stopped working" error after the patch. This sounds very weird right? VERY weird!

this started happening to me also, right after i updated to 2.3. So damn frustrating but i figured out a way to go around it. See if it works with you guys.
One thing i did was roll back my driver, after that, it still didn't work.
Second thing i did was... right when i signed into windows, I immediately started up ffxiv, logged in, and pressed play. ALL within like 5 seconds of startup. If i was a second too late, i would have to restart my computer and try again.
I think it has to do with some bug with a service process in windows, either audio or video. but what happens is that i am able to get into the game before that application/service starts up.
GL! let me know if it works for u
When leaving open a 3D game in the background (I used gunman clive since I was hoping it didn't stress my computer too much) FFXIV still crashed. The same when I left a movie open in the background to see if it worked, it also crashed.I also temporary fixed this problem by using the method as similar as yours. I'm not sure how you're making this work but I've not been able to play for some time already and my subscription is running out
Sadly that won't work either.
I don't get it.. Only happens on FFXIV..
Maybe gettting SSD will fix it?
it's happening the same to me...amd 7970 + i7 4770k + monitor at 2560x1440, at a certain point it just crashes....and it's frustating!!!never happened before the 2.3 patch!!i tried to lower monitor res to 1920x1080, to play in window....nothing....i'm using a dual monitor configuration, maybe it's the problem? but i'd not like to abandon dual monitor JUST for ff14, and also it worked flawlessy until now!! ;_;
