Enough of these open world threads.
You requested open world content, and now people are raging and blacklisting and cursing at each other in the hunt.

Wut? Poorly executed content doesn't mean open world content is bad. I guess we should also stop with instanced content cause in 2.2 it was just doing Brayflox over and over yeah?
I agree with the OP. Even WoW (or at least when I played vanilla), had elites and higher level mobs roaming the level 60 areas. Silithus required high level armor or a party to explore it's hives. Blasted Lands, EPL, and Deadwind Pass, and other high levels areas had tough mobs that could gang up on you and spell death. I afked in the Sylphlands waiting for a fate and came back to a "high level" mob desperately trying to kill me, barely doing damage.

Everyone hates stuff like that which is why everyone hated the sylph quests. (At least everyone I know hated them) No one wants to be attacked and KO'ed by random guys while they're trying to do their daily quests. I don't understand why people want random crap to kill them while they walk around the map. If you like dying so badly go spend hours wiping the floor in savage coil ಠ_ಠI agree with the OP. 'Had' being the operative word.I agree with the OP. Even WoW (or at least when I played vanilla), had elites and higher level mobs roaming the level 60 areas. WoW removed Elite enemies from it's open world maps. Everything that was dangerous out in the world is no longer, and if the single most popular MMO on the market decided that was the right choice, what are the chances other games are going to revert on that anytime soon?
AAA games don't take risks, they do what works. We may very well get more open world content, but it's unlikely to ever be dangerous to individuals passing by.

Oh, everyone? Or did you pull that out of your ass? From the huge discussion a few months back, it seem far less then *everyone* hated "stuff like that". Also... you don't *have* to go out and do stuff in the wild? Why do people always act like they are forced to do certain things. See Atma. To your last part: "If you like having your hand held so badly, go spend hours doing the same easy instance over and over"?Everyone hates stuff like that which is why everyone hated the sylph quests. WoW removed elites from old world content when TBC came out due to it becoming outdate. TBC still had elites in certain areas. I don't recall any complaints about those high level areas due to it being the norm and expected, the only comments were from new players not being able to clear certain quests due to no one being able to help them (again cause it became outdated). I can't say post-TBC cause I quit by then.'Had' being the operative word.

Well just for information sake, they removed all Elites since then, as TBC was numerous expansions ago. I don't remember when, but at least as of Cata, open world Elites no longer exist.WoW removed elites from old world content when TBC came out due to it becoming outdate. Except it was poorly done - Not how people suggested. Even if you try to reference FFXI, major difference is, more than half of XI's life they used a force pop system or a pop heirachy system, e.g Voidwatch/ZNM/Abyssea/Walk of Echos (you pop the instance) and so on.
In fairness, FFXI didnt go off the deep end with all of that till much later when it completely nerfed the entire game when too many cried how hard it was and how long it took.
