Depends on the game :P SWTOR has become so casual that drops in operations are just tokens now. If a guild has hard mode on farm they can take a new guild member through two operations in one night and have full gear. Wont be min maxed but it will be the highest tier lol.

Sigh, a month is reasonable. Three or more months is not. If I did a Three Frontlines every single day it would still take me over three months to get a full set of the highest tier pvp gear. Three months...every single day. That's not discounting the price of the sets below that, either. Nice try, though.Did you know? Second Coil has a 1 week lockout, thus it will take a month or more to complete a set of armor for your main? Just like it did for the first coil of bahamut back in 2.0? Did you know, Labyrinth of Ancients had a 1 week lockout and it would take 1 month or more to complete a set for your main/alt/whatever you wanted to complete? Did you know, Syrcus Tower has a 1 week lockout on gear/tomestone and will ta...you get the idea.
Taking awhile to get what you want is nothing new to XIV, FF or MMORPGs. You don't have to be on 24/7 to do the Hildebrand quests, or to try primals and such.

I'm inclined to agree. Granted each patch adds changes to drops, quantity, locations in which to obtain items and what not...but the fact remains, the way they currently have the grind factor set up for most things, assuming nothing gets changed, items that are currently end-game or BiS will be impossible to obtain while they're relevant, since the time needed to get said item, would lapse into the next patch/expansion making it utterly pointless and obsolete.
I think SE is taking the "prolong time invested to obtain reward" a bit TOO far in a majority of the games aspects. But hey, that's my $0.02.
Just don't do it. A lot of things in the game are not worth grinding for in the end. Do you really need whatever you're grinding for on your fisher?
I would say this holds true for the new chocobo raising too.
It's like they forgot the actual game-part from the whole thing.
Its overwhelming when these patches come out. There is just so much to do, and yet only half of it is really fun. (or not, I guess it depends for you)
There is this attitude inside MMO's where everyone wants to max everything, be the richest and whatever else your goals may be. Some people are completion-ists, and some just like to brag nonstop.
--> There is always going to be someone who is further along~ it doesn't matter who you are. Then more content comes out and those people have to race to keep up.
Having said that, just think about what you do enjoy in this game. Play selectively. Just because some boring grindy content (or non-content as it may be) is there, it doesn't mean we all have to participate. Everything has an expiration date in an MMO. Gear gets outdated.
Create your own achievable goals that make you happy, and you may not be so frustrated anymore. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

I had to stop right there.. if you really believe getting a Job to 50 is a grind, MMO's are not for you. You can get to 50 that fast, that you don't even have to buy gear between 10 and 50... it is in fact hilarious fast. Leveling is a lot in FFXIV, but not a grind.
You should try re-reading what you quoted...

I kinda understand you OP but just try to avoid what you consider extremely grindy or boring to do, sure... I would love to have all my crafts at max level and be able to help my FC and craft cool stuff for them and my character but I find the crafting system REALLY boring so I just focus on getting gear and daily quest every time I log in, once I'm happy with my gear and complete all the new quest in 2.3 I'm going to give the game a break till 2.4, that way I don't get burned out and can still enjoy the game new content at a later date.
