Ask Questions for Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XVI! (Lead Planner Komoto)

    Hey everyone!

We're pleased to announce the next Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XVI! This next Live Letter will take place on Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4:00 a.m. (PDT) / 11:00 (GMT)!

In this thread we'd like you to specifically pose questions for Lead Planner Nobuaki Komoto. In addition to collecting your questions in real-time via Twitter, we will also use this thread to gather your questions ahead of time and answer them during the event.

When submitting your question, we ask that you follow these steps:
    • Please post your question(s) as a reply to this thread
    • Please limit posts to your question(s) only and do not use this thread for discussion
    • If another player already asked a question you had in mind, simply click the "Like!" button instead of re-posting the question
    • Please post only one question per reply (of course you are allowed to post several replies!)
For more information regarding the Letter from the Producer LIVE, please read the following: NA/EU

Please note that once the event is over, we will be closing this thread.

In regards to the Final Fantasy XI and Dragon Quest X Collaboration events, will we see these events return or will their stories ever be expanded upon in the future?

Can you consider planning future End Game Battles to be less Instant Death Gimmick-driven, so that parties (hardcore or mainstream) have more opportunities to be organic, and also allow them to recover from making a mistake (instead of wiping the entire raid because someone didn't memorize your scripted / "team jump rope" / "dance" routine)?

In the same train of thoughts as above, do you plan on adding dynamic dungeons with changing mechanics and variable puzzles?

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)

One time, I suggested a throw-back light party dungeon that would use turn-based mechanics throughout the entire dungeon.

Would you consider a more engaging, interesting Party-based Combo System (where Party Members could contribute certain attacks and string them together), as seen in your previous games like Chrono Trigger (Triple Tech) and Final Fantasy XI (Skillchain / RENKEI)?

This would make each Battle feel far more interesting and engaging, keeping players interested in the fight from their own creativity point-of-view, rather than just hitting their same rotation over and over, while dodging Gimmicks.

we had the weapon skills in orignal FFXIV, but yea I would like to second his question, I would like to see the return of Weapon skill and Skill Chains, I know we have combos right now which are good for solo but nothing much in terms of Party involvment.

Expanded: Action Oriented = Bad Idea?

Point 2) Dodging attacks is a great idea, but not if the game has any kind of delay in my positioning.

If I move my character outside the hazard area on my screen, then I should not be taking damage because the server hasn't updated my position. To be clear this is not an issue of computer or internet speed on my end as many other games (both action and MMO) have provided a fluid experience.

Is it possible to have the players themselves be involved in the testing of upcoming content?

The feedback from the players can be quite valuable. Even if the players don't comment what they think about it; making notes on how they behave and act in such content can be valuable for making adjustments before the content goes live.

While professional playtesters are great for testing content and hammering out bugs, they are employees and are not likely to have the same mindset that the players have. I believe it would be beneficial to gain feedback from the player's point of view.
