Returning player from pre-ARR

Hello everyone!

I recently joined back up to play this game with a friend who really never left. When I asked him about what it might entail for me to come back and if there would be many hurdles he didn't know much but assured me that my characters wouldn't be deleted and that he was playing on Excalibur.

So i have re downloaded the game as my old collectors edition of the game is no longer relevant. Logged in to find my old characters are no where to be found, nor is the server they were made on (Figaro). Meh not really a big deal, game is way different, plan to make a new character anyway.

Make my new character, and she is perfect! New character creation is magnificent! Problem is I cannot seem to join Excalibur, it is full and has a legacy tag around it. I was under the impression I was in fact legacy having bought a collectors edition prior to ARR ever being thought of.

So what I would like to ask is:
Will I ever get my old characters back?
Is there any neat goodies for players that played pre ARR?
Can I ever join my friends server? <--- The big one

Excalibur is pretty full and closed for creation most times of the day, best time to try is the wee hours of the morning. All depends though, just have to get lucky with your timing.

Legacy wasn't for players who just bought 1.0. You got legacy but subscribing for 3 months during 2012. Excalibur isn't limited by legacy status however, it's just that there's too many people online. Wait until the server dies down a bit (it is the first few days after a patch after all) and you should be able to make a character.

Also, your character should still be around I think. Figaro was merged during 1.0 and is now called Aegis

Regarding your old character, you might want to try changing your Data Center in the start screen to the server that Aegis is in. Figaro became Aegis, and server people moved from Aegis to Excalibur since Aegis was being designated as a JP server.

If your character is there, you'd have to pay $18 to move it to another server though.
