    Hunting Linkshells: Inherently evil?

Thought I'd join in on the flamefest and ask if you think a Linkshell for hunts is inherently evil/sociopathic or if you think it Allows players to communicate more. And also your opinions on whether adding endgame tokens, boss HP/Strength/Mind, lag or other factors is the problem instead of the LS.

I want to know do you think LS's are inherently evil Or do you think that they are okay but other factors make the Notorious Monsters Notoriously hard to find even with a LS?

Evil? That's the whole point of a LS in the first place. Different players from different FCs communicating with each others to achieve a common goal. Looks to me like it's working as intended.

    Just a question..

When were LSs ever deemed evil?

Hunting marks by yourself is extremely inefficient because the mobs die too quick and spawn on an area far too large. The only effective way to get a reasonable amount of rewards is to team up with other people and communicate while scouting larger areas and different zones. This is what LSs do.

But seriously, NMs are just way too squishy by all standards.

Yeah uh, the problem's got very little to do with linkshells. There are absolutely system improvements that could benefit the Marks system, and linkshells are involved in none of it. (If anything, as mentioned, it might arguably be a good thing - "players not meeting other players" has been a common complaint about XIV)

The closest to an exploitative set of linkshells I'd say we have are the PvP wintrading linkshells... but recent changes to the value of PvP rank, the decision to have Frontlines be iLvl synced and ignore Morale (and its high activity), and other factors, the advantage is actually pretty irrelevant now. And that's just exploitative - certainly nothing even close to 'evil'.

I don't understand what would make linkshells evil...?

However, in my opinion, it is kind of silly to have contested world monsters without open world pvp in a game.

I'd say so, I heard a rumor that in between hunts they make plans to drown kittens!

The ones I am in have been evil in the sense I see people saying "Naud is up!" when I'm in the middle of a dungeon...

The only sense in which linkshells are a negative with regards to hunts is that they're causing NMs to get swarmed by hundreds of players which guarantees that the majority of them will not receive a reward simply because of the limited mob HP.

The solution of course is to raise the HP of the NMs but until that happens the linkshells are exacerbating the problem.
