Photo Mode request - let's demand it -

    hi

when i see other game like Project cars and infamous SS having a photo mode with a free roaming camera and hud toggle it makes me wonder why FFXiV didn't get a photo mode ?! so many things can be captured in the game than those racing simulators ( forza/GT too )

whats funny is that the devs asked us many times to take screenshots for a certain competition but with so little tools to use it's hard to do something unique that is wallpaper worthy

i ( and whoever wants to join me ) would like to ask the devs to add a photo mode for FFXiV that allows players to show the world how beautiful FFXiV world is , Skyrim isn't anywhere near FFXiV but it's got mods that enhanced it a lot , we don't need mods we just need a photo mode to erase Skyrim from the minds of people out there as the most next-gen looking RPG

By your game list, I'm assuming your on PS4. Hold L1 and press the right side of the touchpad.
This toggles the HUD elements. to where you can take clear Screen captures. It won't freeze the game like in I:SS because it's a online game but This is how you take screens in a HUD-less "photo mode."

    Toggling the HUD on/off:

    PS3: L1 + Select
    PS4: L1 + left side of touchpad
PC (or console with a keyboard): scroll lock

(Yeah, scroll lock isn't intuitively obvious, but it is next to the Print Screen button on most keyboards.)

p.s. I found out about the scroll lock when the cat walked across my keyboard while I was in the midst of a dungeon battle, turning off my HUD, and leaving me scrambling to figure out how to turn it back on again.

It's not the best but you can fudge the angle a bit in third person. Target someone near what you want to screenshot and lock on. You can then move the camera around your character with the target being your focal point. Another is to just use first person. You can adjust your height by sitting or try and find a good angle from above or wherever.

What I do think they can do and keep it unique, lore friendly, and simple, is to have a minion (Moogle for example) that holds a camera device. You can right click to open a sub-command menu option and then click "Picture Time" (or something) and you essentially take control of your minion. It is on a leash around you (say 6-7 yalm max) and it'll have zoom/focus/brightness/whatever. You can click on the subject you want in crisp sharpness while foreground/background becomes blurred. They can implement different lenses (fish eye, macro, telephoto) and blur styles too perhaps.

I think that's probably the most fun & simple way to do it.

I don't know if you'd be able to target the sun minion this way, put you can set it to different heights using /poke, it stays where you spawn it, and (most important) it disappears when you turn off the HUD. It's one of the few things given to use specifically for screenshots. Oh, and you can use it for a light source, but it drops off pretty quickly.

You can also change the axis of the camera using ctrl+up/down on the arrow keys. It's not much, but it helps.

And what about some 3D pictures? You take a screenshoot and you are able to rotate the pic in a Matrix's style. You can use this function to review a party position strategy for example. I don´t know if this could be possible but it would be great.

Man, if this ever gets implemented, that would simply blow my mind. Not sure how it could be, but one can cross their fingers!
