Agreed. The issue doesn't really lies within The Hunt itself, but with the rewards. They're really too high compared to the rest of the content introduced in 2.3.
I don't want them to nerf The Hunt, but some incentive to keep the rest of the content alive and healthy would help driving some of the players away from the Hunt and would make it work like they probably envisioned it while solving some of the issues.
Like removing freaking filtered water and cooking sherry from boss chests and replacing them with something worthwhile (like something akin to the blood spattered books with a lowish drop rate) would be a nice first step.
